You can include Hellfire Mongrel and/or Lavaborn Muse to help The Rack ing of the opponent, and if you wish to splash the red, i also recommend Blightning and Lightning Bolt , you maybe want Doom Blade as a SB since it have the condition of the black creatures. If you wanna take a look to my deck Tiny hand, huge damage feel free to take any ideas you want, mine's more damage by discard oriented, but also have the splash to punish the opponent when he gets empty handed. +1

If I did splash red, Blightning would go in there for sure! One of this deck's strengths is the fact that I don't run any creatures in the MD (outside of Mutavaults). I always win out more when I play my Smallpox when the only thing I'm losing is a land and maybe a card in hand and my opponent loses a creature in addition to the others. Also creatures and my own Ensnaring Bridge don't play well together ;P But I suppose there's a deck out there that could use those red guys and be a sort of a 'rakdos aggro-rack' deck that sounds like it could be fun to play. Thanks for the ideas!

realistically, in mono black, the only way to deal with Leyline of Sanctity is to get a Ratchet Bomb ticked up to 4. You might also want to consider 1-2 Buried Ruin as a way to get back your Ensnaring Bridge or The Rack when they get destroyed.

I use a Burried Ruin in my 8rack deck. It has saved a few games.

I'll consider using Buried Ruin , although I generally don't have a problem with people destroying my artifacts.

I'm not sure about how big a watch you keep on standard, but there are two newer cards I think would be great for this deck. First, Waste Not. It just works so well with all discard strategies. Second, and this one I'm not as sure about, but, Tasigur's Cruelty looks pretty interesting, especially since you run many instants and sorceries as opposed to permanents. If you can exile four cards it's even better than Hymn to Tourach while exiling five cards will make it the best discard spell ever.

Sorry my apologies but I never saw the Waste nots in your deck already.

@pleasiodmakerblooloo- Thanks for checking out the deck! The Waste Nots are newer additions that I'm still in the process of testing. I've found that the deck lacks card advantage, which makes longer games a little tougher. The Waste Nots were in there mostly to test how good they are value-wise/card advantage-wise in a longer game. Now that Treasure Cruise is banned in modern, I think this deck might have a chance again!

I don't really like Tasigur's Cruelty simply because it's inconsistant. It might be ok as a 1-of, but I prefer many of the other spells that I know I'll always be able to cast on time. The Cruelty is better in multiplayer, but when you're playing competitive 1v1 matches I'll still wish I had Hymn to Tourach since it discards random cards instead of chosen cards. ;)

I've been testing with a similar build but I use the red splashed version simply because I can't afford 4x Liliana of the Veil and used Blightning instead. I did however begin loving Kolaghan's Command even more than I already did. It's a a flexible tool this deck was missing dearly. I considered making this a Mardu deck as well for the thought of using Mardu Charm but not sure how I like that. If I went Mardu there's room for Tear + Wear in the SB...but that's all thoughts right now.

Tronz3000- thanks for taking a look at my deck! I've been considering myself whether to add another color to the mix. I was thinking of adding green for Life from the Loam in order to take over the late game against control by killing off all their lands with Ghost Quarter and retracing Raven's Crime easily. It would also give me access to artifact/enchant destruction out of the SB. Red is a good choice as well for Blightning and Kolaghan's Command like you said. I haven't played with this deck in a while though, so it may be time to revisit it now that there are some new toys being spoiled. Perhaps a jund Assult-Loam style of deck with that new red card, Molten Vortex. I don't think the white splash for Mardu Charm is worth it though, but perhaps you can find different reasons to run white.

I'd recommend dropping Waste Not for +1 Ensnaring Bridge, +1 Wrench Mind (this card is too good not to run 4 unless you're in a distinctively affinity heavy meta), and +1 removal of your choice.

Getting back into MTG after not playing for 20 years. I've been looking for a deck that gives me the "old feel" of Magic when I used to play, and I think this may be it. Thanks, man!
