Was just trying to think of some card draw ideas, Phyrexian Arena may help. I'm not too sure on Abzan coloured card draw stuff that's inexpensive besides the obvious Dark Confidant. A lot are just creatures as well maybe Wall of Omens? Not as resilient as your other walls but yea.

Thank you for commenting Ulturas! I'm glad you like the concept. I actually did have some Wall of Omens in here for a while, but eventually took it out because I thought there were too many creatures with Defender here for now. Resiliency was the thing that made me opt for that over the other creatures. Not saying it was right to take them out though, and I'm certainly going to consider them.
Phyrexian Arena is an interesting suggestion.. Completely forgot that it was modern legal! From what I see, Abzan tends to rely more on getting multiple uses from the same card (Tasigur, the Golden Fang, Kitchen Finks and so on) rather than straight up drawing more of them, so I'm wondering if I should just go for some recursion or something rather than draw power. However, I'll give the arena a try and see what happens - it seems like a good fit. Thanks!

SteveHiguita Yea it sucks it gets killed so easily by Dismember as well. But even so the card draw is still pretty useful in a way. Yea resiliency is what will make this deck really neat. I'm a little worried about cards like Twisted Image killing off some of your cards but you have a pretty large creature base, so your deck is kinda more aggroey then usual which is good.
Yea I actually didn't realize for quite a while it's usually a staple in EDH but yea found out it's usable in Modern as well. That's basically it for Abzan but that's the reason it's also quite strong multiple uses for a card is often what can help win you a game. Speaking of Abzan would Abzan Charm be of any use in here? Card draw or an Exile spell seems pretty legit.

... Wow. Abzan Charm is actually perfect. The whole Twisted Image thing you were talking about? Abzan Charm in response!! 12/12 Endless One? Not a problem! I think Abzan Charm does pretty much everything I want, as is evidenced by the fact that it has now taken the place of Read the Bones and I'm considering moving up to 4 of them. Thank you so much!! Wall of Omens is now being considered for more card draw and because Abzan Charm takes it out of Dismember range, but I'm wondering what I could take out.. Hmm..

SteveHiguita Haha there we go covered multiple answers with 1 spell xD I wasn't even thinking about the 3rd part of Abzan Charm coz it's usually never used but yea it saves all your 0 power creatures from dying from Twisted Image. Yea always hard deciding what to remove generally you wanna try removing the same kinda CMC so for now trying 2 of Fortified Rampart and 2 of Wall of Omens and seeing how it goes from there.

Do you like the idea of Wall of Roots as a rampy sorta tool? It's weird but it can setup something big the turn it comes out like Wall of Roots into Treefolk Harbinger on t2 to setup something neat on t3?

You have given me much to think about. I'll test these different options over the coming days and post my findings here :) thanks!

I'm not sure where you should put it, but I think Spellskite is mainboard worthy for your deck. And Sylvan Caryatid would also be good so you can get a little ramp going.

Mainboarding Spellskite is certainly worthy of consideration. I may end up taking out some of the 0/6 defenders for Spellskite and Wall of Omens. I'll certainly make some changes after the next B&R announcement. If Lightning Bolt regains popularity, then I'm at no real loss from putting in those better cards in place of the 0/6s. Thanks for the comment!

Nyx-Fleece Ram can come out for something that synergizes better. Disowned Ancestor is a must.
Turn 1: Play a 0/4.
Turn 2: Play a 0/6.
Turn 3: Assault Formation, attack for 10! You could also Triton Tactics to make it 16.
+1 for sure. Assault Formation is badass!

Gaea's Blessing works amazing in sideboard also because it's mill protection! Well done sir.

I agree with zoonaga 100%. +1 for execution. Disowned Ancestor belongs in here for sure.

Thank you zoonaga and LordOfMishap! Yes, Disowned Ancestor could fit in very well here. Perhaps I could move Nyx-Fleece Ram back to the sideboard (for burn match-ups) and maybe mainboard Disowned Ancestor. I will consider it. Thanks for the suggestions!

I would probably swap fortified rampart for disowned ancestor. The ram at least nets you life.

I figure Disowned Ancestor works well because it turn 1 drop.

I'd rather play a 2 drop that nets me a life a turn, rather than what would be a beat stick that I'd have to sink mana into to attack with.

Sweet deck. Lov good old Doran. In running it myself. Check it out Doran still Explorin'. I like to be a little faster running souls and tower defense.

I've only played it once, and it was while I was playing sub-par cards like Fortified Rampart, and 4x Assault Formation that kept getting stuck in my hand.. Worked out as follows:
- VS Living End - Very convincing loss.
- VS Abzan CoCo - Loss, but because of my misplay rather than the deck.
- VS Jund - Win. Was great seeing my opponent block with Tarmogoyf, then use 2x Lightning Bolt and Kolaghan's Command just to kill one Tree of Redemption. :)
I'll be playing it again quite soon, will update once I have results!

Really cool concept man, I really don't understand why decks that were banned 4 years ago are getting rated top 5 when people come up with cool decks like this and go really low under the radar. Pretty brilliant all your creatures get through Ensnaring Bridge as well. Can also block the majority of the Eldrazi crap that's out there too haha.
