I love playing tokens and I've been slowly building up to this deck for quite some time as I've laboriously collected those not-so-cheep Bitterblossom's. While B/W Tokens isn't the most competitive deck in Modern, I've pretty consistently gone 3-1 on Modern Monday events and I genuinely have a blast playing this deck.
Main Deck Explained
This deck is obviously centered around Bitterblossom and Intangible Virtue. After reading a few articles on B/W Tokens, I've made some changes to make the deck more versatile overall and a little more competitive in a Modern format which has proven effective against most decks currently being played in Modern arena's.
Game Play
In an idyllic world I would say this deck should play like this:
Turn 1 - Drop either Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek. This turn-one play is just nasty in all it's forms: played against a Poison counter deck and had my opponent discard his only creature ... guess all those pumping spells suddenly became useless lol, then dropped a Path to Exile on his second creature, and by then it was too late for him to catch up with all those Faeries.
Turn 2 - Intangible Virtue or Bitterblossom to start the pain (would be the obvious choice), but getting out Auriok Champion early might be something to consider if you're up against goblins or other aggro creature decks.
Turn 3 - The beauty of this deck is that at this point, you're pretty much set up for the rest of the game if you've got your third mana source. Every token generator only requires and the rest of your removal and hand disruption can be cast in conjunction with other spells, or just leave one mana source open to make your opponent THINK you've got one of those nasty removals still sitting there haha.
Turn 4 - The Planeswalkers in this deck almost just seemed like good distractors. I hardly ever get one out before my opponent had a response for them. But one turn with Sorin's +1 is enough lifelink to tip the scales. Where Planeswalkers ARE crucial is in the mirror match: I'm strongly considering adding another Gideon solely for that purpose since it seems like whoever get's theirs out first, wins (unless you're holding on to a Path just for that).
Lingering Souls is my favorite card in this deck with it's flashback cost. I had two of my opponents constantly trying to get rid of it with hand control and other graveyard control cards. It left them so busy that I was able to get out my PLaneswalkers and Bitterblossom to finish the job.
Sideboard
I'm pretty sure this still needs to be fixed, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Rest in Peace seemed like a good option against Dredge decks, but it also hurts me with Lingering Souls.
Tragic Slip was super fun to play: I sided it in against Death's Shadow.
The Plus One was me ... because I think I'm awesome ... feel free to add to my hubris and please comment if you have suggestions/questions/or just want to me to jump over and +1 your awesome deck too!
