Thanks very much. It took me a few months to finally come up with the build.

Have you considered Brimaz, King of Oreskos ? Maybe 2 copies over the Mirran Crusader s?

I have thought about it but I like the fact that Mirran Crusader doesnt have to worry about Tarmogoyf , Abrupt Decay or Dismember . He also just wins games if you can equip a Sword of Fire and Ice . I do like Brimaz, King of Oreskos but I am not sure if he would be better. I might try in the future but for the GP I will be running this.

The deck looks great! Well positioned to combat the meta, includes some of my favourite creatues (Thalia) and some of my favourite equipment. Can't complain in the slightest. +1

Yeah thanks a lot for the plus one. With Jund effectively neutered I like my match ups against all of the top decks. I feel like I am favored against Twin, Birthing Pod, Tron, and UWR Control. I am still not sure if the deck would just be better by splashing green for Scavenging Ooze and Loxodon Smiter though.
February 8, 2014 5:42 a.m.
It's definitely an option. Loxodon Smiter is good due to all the targeted discard prevalent nowadays, but I don't know if it's worth the green splash just for it or Scooze. It's definitely worth testing at some point though!

Burrenton Forge-Tender is used to prevent a board wipe from Pyroclasm . That is the only reason I have it in my side board.

I really haven't played much modern, so I apologize if this is a ridiculous suggestion. Anyway, I noticed that most of your creatures are either 2 or 3-drops, would running Immortal Servitude in the sideboard make sense at all? Against control, use it right after a board-wipe or something.

@casey that isnt a ridiculous suggestion at all. Immortal Servitude is actually a decent card in a deck like Soul Sisters which is basically a Mono White life gain deck. The only issue is that Modern is a very fast format and you would only want to cast the x cost of Immortal Servitude for 1 or 2 at the most. It is just more effective with more 1 drops. Another issue is I very rarely have more than 4 mana at any point because a lot of my mana base is used for either destroying opposing lands or deck thinning. Thanks for the +1

Cool, that makes perfect sense. Thanks.I'm assuming yes, but is destroying opponents' lands a pretty important factor in modern? Even so far as to put it in your mainboard?
February 25, 2014 2:53 a.m.
Nvm, looking more closely it just seems that your deck is really set up that way.

Yes Modern isn't as bad as Legacy but 3 color decks and turn 4 infinite combos are common in Modern. If you can slow down your opponents a couple turns that can usually mean the difference in winning or losing.

How do you feel about Flicker tricks with Fiend Hunter ? You perma-exile one creature while exiling another under him.
March 7, 2014 11:30 a.m.
GarrettO23 says... #16
Well Fiend Hunter doesn't permanently exile anything because when he leaves the battlefield they come back. I do like Fiend Hunter a lot but I have noticed a card like Oblivion Ring is a good catch all that is hard to get rid of. Oblivion Ring is for things like Karn Liberated that would just wreck me if I don't answer them.
March 7, 2014 12:30 p.m.
Fiend Hunter 's on play ability trigger, you play Flickerwisp with AEther Vial and one creature is foreve gone, other is temporary gone. The same "combo" with Mangara of Corondor .

To Expand on what I meant here Is The official Gatherer ruling:
If Fiend Hunter leaves the battlefield before its first ability has resolved, its second ability will trigger and do nothing. Then its first ability will resolve and exile the targeted creature indefinitely.
So basically like this :
Fiend Hunter Enters the battlefield, you choose a creature, After your opponent chooses not to respond, you respond to His exiling ability by Flashing in Flickerwisp targeting Fiend Hunter before His exiling ability fully resolves thus making it impossible for the creature to re-enter the battlefield. Then at the end of the turn you get your Fiend Hunter back allowing you to Repeat step one. Interesting enough, the same Example also does apply to Oblivion Ring .
Oblivion Ring ruling says :
If Oblivion Ring leaves the battlefield before its first ability has resolved, its second ability will trigger and do nothing. Then its first ability will resolve and exile the targeted nonland permanent forever.

VampireArmy Thanks for the explanation, dude. I think I'm getting lazy nowadays...

I haven't really broken into playing modern too much, as of yet, so pardon me if this is kind of a dumb question. Is there any chance you'd ever want to play Tarmogoyf yourself in a deck like this? Also, I think the answer is yes, but can you put a Serra Avenger into play on turn 3 with AEther Vial ? Since you're not actually casting the card?
Deck looks like a ton of fun to play. +1 from me.
April 27, 2014 3:09 p.m.
The problem is, Goyf doesn't 'do' anything, and this deck relies on utility creatures pretty heavily. It's a great card, but I'm not sure how much it would change this deck for the better, if at all.
Also, yes you are correct about Serra Avenger and Vial's interaction.
