Ok so this modern deck is one I've made with the idea of using all the fun little things that flickering and flash have to offer in the colors that do them best, Esper. I'm trying to make this a competitive deck at any cost so feel free to use any suggestions that might help. now I'm sure that there are one or 2 cards on here that are making you go why would you use that? so let me go over all the cards in here and why I've put them here:
Creatures:
Snapcaster Mage - pretty obvious, is any card from my graveyard i need in a pinch
Restoration Angel - now at first glance everyone says i need to cut it but once they play the deck they see why its there, it gives me an extra use out of my ETB effects, it protects my creatures in some cases and lastly but not least its a flashable 3/4 flier which is nothing to sneeze at
Venser, Shaper Savant - I really like this card especially with the new legend rule it makes him playable hes either a remand or disperse plus a flashable 2/2 dude for 4 mana
Instants:
Mystical Teachings - I found this card and it was one of the main reasons i made this deck what it is and not just another modern meta game deck this card lets me pull any card in my deck minus the 4 sorcery cards and my lands it itself is insant speed so it can be used at the end of a turn and it only cost 2 more mana for its flash back so it pretty much comes with a free snapcaster on it love this card
Cryptic Command - its bounce card draw tap downs and counter its literally everything blue does in a card....and i love what blue does
Cyclonic Rift - good as a one of in this deck with mystical teachings because by turn 6 if all else fails and I'm on the edge and just need to reset there board i can tutor for this as a soft board wipe
Delay - I'm using this right now over mana leak i feel that this is better by the time late game comes and most things in modern you want to happen right then so most of the time delaying a spell for 3 turns is killer to an opponent
Remand - at face value it doesn't seem like it its too good but anyone who has played it knows it does work i mean over all when used at the right time it can waste there whole turn while giving you a card and probably hand advantage
Doom Blade, Path to Exile & Go for The Throat - just basic spot removal for the main board i use one of both so I'm never too exposed in my main board
Peer through Depths - this is in here for draw i originally had serum visions in place of this but it wasn't instant speed so i was having trouble finding a good time to use it so i put this in here mainly for a way to dig for one of my sorcery cards since i can tutor for any instant with my mystical teachings
Esper Charm - i know a lot of people who don't like this card but i do i mean its flexible enough where if I'm playing against a more aggressive deck i can draw to keep hand advantage or if its against a control i can make them discard so i can deny them and there is the ability to destroy and enchantment i don't use that one a lot but it has come in handy versus some decks
Extirpate - This card is great! don't knock it till you try it, its one mana and it will get rid of the most annoying card in there deck or if not that then worse case it can break the stack in some combo decks. however for me i find this to be a sort of better version of slaughter games the only down fall being that the card I'm using it on must be in the graveyard already
Sorcery:
Damnation - Board wipe in black so its slightly harder to predict
Exsanguinate - let me start by saying i would love to find a replacement for this card. this card is in here purely as a bomb to help either stabilize or to push me over the edge to victory however I find myself hanging onto it till the point where it doesn't matter anymore
Planeswalkers:
Venser, the Sojouner - his plus ability is wonderous in this deck and has great al around synergy and also is a win con him self and by late game he can make unblockable bodies to push me over the edge
Tamiyo, the Moon Sage - a fun card she gives tap down for some aggressive decks to help buy me time or can also be card draw and at worst case is a win con
Enchantment:
Blind Obedience - this card is awesome it shuts down aggro so hard it isn't funny at all and with that extort on it it becomes a down right life saver some games
so there it is my reasoning behind the madness if you will all help is greatly appreciated i feel like this deck has a lot of potential
