I wanted to build a devotion deck for fun, and found it to be fairly effective despite lacking some control, which I've side boarded a bit of.
Other than a handful of cards, I only wanted to have cards that utilized all green mana symbols in the CMC
Key synergy Forest + Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx + Utopia Sprawl
to make use the mana symbols and gain as much addition mana as possible
Using Arbor Elf + Garruk Wildspeaker
to untap lands to cast additional creatures early on, or even trigger
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
again.
By maintaining most of the cards having only green mana symbols gives me the most use out of
Primalcrux
and also allows me a potential free drop, or at least cheap drop, of
Khalni Hydra
Running the single copy of
Unyaro Bees
was mostly for my amusement and less the synergy, but also gives me an outlet for any excess mana I have to simply boost a flyer for high damage, especially if my opponent doesn't have reach or flyers.
Things I've considered for this deck:
I understand one of the major weaknesses of my deck is control, either through counters, direct destruction, or board wipes.
As well as if I have an ideal hand, preferably ( Forest + Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx + Arbor Elf + Utopia Sprawl and 3 other creatures between 2-3 drops, maybe a
Primalcrux
) I play out quickly and am reduced to top decking the remainder of the game. To help this I was suggested a single copy of
Lifecrafter's Bestiary
but I wonder if it wouldnt be better to run two and cut the
Ulvenwald Tracker
as several of my creatures have undying, and the rest are fairly large, which could take care of most creatures blocking me?
I'm definitely open to some suggestions and feedback!
