Prepare to be Hunted!

Hunted Troll - Greg Staples

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

Introducion

Welcome to the hunt!

Before reading any further, I want to make you fully aware that this is a casual deck and by no means is intended to be competitive.

This deck is intended to cause some laughs with your playgroup.

Additionally, this deck is also intended to be played in a pod of at least four people.

Deck Tech

Each of the "hunted" creatures have an interesting "Enter the Battlefield" effect of spawning creatures under your opponents control. This mechanic allows these creatures to generally be above curve for their power/toughness to CMC value.

The purpose of this deck is to arm your opponents with an ever-growing army of strange creatures, then hide behind a pillow fort.

While this doesn't seem like much of a benefit, it gives your opponent a moderately-sized creature to beat your other enemies with. Also, it has "Flying"

Easily the strongest of the hunted creatures, the Phantasm is Unblockable and spawns a MASSIVE number of creatures for your opponents (we will get into why that is good a little bit later).

Again, provides a very large number of creatures for your opponents.

The obvious issue behind giving a blade to your enemy is you're very likely to get stabbed...

To prevent this you must barricade yourself into the smallest place possible!

Ghostly Prison is going to give us the appropriate defense against the armies you have gifted to your friends, and create a unique situation where they are forced to fight among them selves.

To accelerate into this pillowfort, we are going to use Rites of Flourishing and Vision Skeins to throw tempo out the window.

While it is hilarious to give your opponents a large army, it wouldn't be near as funny if you didn't just give them more than they know what to do with, however, we also have to ensure that we can stay alive long enough to cause as much mayhem as possible!

Authority of the Consuls creates a unique situation; we are gifting many different creatures to our opponents, and causing life-gain triggers for each of those creatures individually.

Panharmonicon allows us to double the effectiveness of our hunted creatures, allowing us to target multiple opponents with single triggers.

Additionally, Authority of the Consuls + Panharmonicon causes our life-gain triggers to happen additional times; this is a HUGE boost to survivability.

To recycle this gimmick, we can use Eerie Interlude to flicker all of our creatures. Two thumbs up!

While this deck is as janky as they come... there is some merit to it...

  • Firstly, you're more than likely to run into a situation where your opponents have killed each other with their large armies (since they cannot attack you enough with you Ghostly Prison on the field), and you will be able to win with aggro.

  • Secondly, in playtesting... another likely win condition is simply drawing-out your opponents with Rites of Flourishing and Vision Skeins.

Thank you so much for your time!
