I have a question, u cant tap pili pala for mana, but u need to untap it to get colored mana, can somebody explain me the pili-pala grand architect combo

By using one blue mana you can change the Pili-Pala to a blue creature, this then allows you to tap it because of Grand Architect 's ability, you then untap Pili-Pala and repeat, adding one mana of any colour to your mana pool, allowing you to have infinite of any colour mana. If you happen to have Legacy Weapon out you can exile as many permanents as you like from the game, being an effective board wipe for your opponents but not yourself.

If you plan on burning for a crapton with banefire and Pili-Pala /Grand Architect combo, are sulfur falls even necessary? it seems like it might not be worth it to run the falls in this case, i can see it being a burn if they get a sweeper off late game and you don't have pila/GA out. But you are likely looking at less than 10 mana you can spend on it. If they have that much board control I can't see them being that low on health. Just curious if anyone has any thoughts on it.

but you need 2 mana for pili pala to untap. ..i understand you do this...1..blue mana convert pili pala into blue2. tap pili pala for 2 mana 3. you use 2 mana to untapped 4.tap pili for 2 mana again and you used for untapped so where is the mana extra ?

@oso9381 When you untap Pili-Pala it generates a mana of any color. So you tap him as a blue creature to get 2 mana, Use that 2 mana to untap him AND get a mana of any color.

Man oh man I need to refine this deck some more. I've learned a bunch of stuff since I last updates this deck lol

@Deco_y I'm currently in the process of building a similar deck. I played my illusions deck from m12 block in a modern tournament and came in 3rd out of 24 people. I had grand architect/wurmcoil tech in there just for some extra power. I still felt like the deck needed a real "i win" combo to bring it into modern and give it some power. Hopefully some of the stuff I learned from your deck will help me give it the oompf it needs.

@ Deco_y I really like your deck idea, good job with the illusions theme and overall deckbuilding! Can you tell me, out of experience, just when does the mana combo reliably tick? Is it turn 5 or later? (I know it can work on turn 4 if you have the cards) +1 from me btw :D

Why not Xenograft ? It can help boost your Krovikan Mist and give your creatures hexproof via Lord of the Unreal .

I prefer keep it flow, easy defensive and trubal I use adaptive automaton swan song unsummon sleep time warp and just that and mi illusions except for the phantasmal bear doesn't have the sacrifice ability ...and i use cowardice to avoid all control stuff

This deck is so cheese. Feels almost as bad as Vampire Hexmage and Dark Depths. It's cool, but I think I'll steer clear of making my wife divorce me by playing it. haha

This look so strong. +1. I'm trying to bring Illusion to modern, without pretending to be tier, of course. My version is just pure tribal illusions, can I ask you to check it out? Btw, this version is definitely stronger...

I don't mean to necro-post, but the perfect card for this deck is Prosperity.

If you already have your infinite mana combo on the field then you cast it for X = 999,999,999 or whatever you like. Everyone draws their entire library and then each other player loses the game at the start of their turn, leaving you as the last man standing.

If you don't already have the infinite mana combo out, Prosperity will help you draw the card(s) you are missing (including another Prosperity lol).

would Banefire be a better win con? Also what is the use of illusions?

May 14, 2018 7:48 p.m.

Deco_y says... #24

Banefire would be ideal except its a sorcery. I may honestly include both at some point. Comet Storm can also still be useful just in case the opponent has Leyline of Sanctity.

Illusions are amazingly fun, and the reason is because this is a Modern version of an old Standard deck I used to run. Youd be pleasantly surprised who well it works.

I need a primer on this deck. Legitimately I want to play this deck, but have no idea where to start. Also, any sideboard ideas come to mind like Ceremonious Rejection, Relic of Progenitus?
