Any ideas for a more budget build? I want to build it if its $60 or less. Definite +1

Wow! I love the deck, and really think you've done the best possible on it. Definite +1 from me, and added it to a folder so I can find it. I love seeing control in colors like green and white. Great Job!

Verduran Enchantress or Mesa Enchantress?

Comes down sooner than Eidolon of Blossoms...casting an enchantment over ETB has some value, though you lose synergy with Eidolon of Blossoms being an enchantment.

Pieguy396 says... #7

Thanks for your comment, madgremlin! I have considered both, but the fact that neither of them replace themselves on ETB, plus the fact that I already have plenty of strong 3-drops, means that I don't think either of them belong here. I could see maybe cutting the Courser of Kruphixes, but I dunno.

I built this deck, everyone in the area started to have back to nature and nature's claim in the post board..

Pieguy396 says... #9

@Rekkoha Aww, I'm sorry man. That is unfortunately one of the main weaknesses of this deck; it has a hard time against dedicated enchantment hate. I don't know how much this will help, but maybe run some copies of Greater Auramancy and/or Privileged Position to make them waste their removal spells?

Rekkoha says... #10

I had greater double greater auramancy locke before...Thanks to AER, I switched to heroic intervention...

Pieguy396 says... #11

@Rekkoha yeah, Heroic Intervention is also a great card.

Raking Canopy might be a good card to consider

Pieguy396 says... #13

Thanks for your comment, twistedmage! Raking Canopy does seem like a fun card, but I'm not particularly worried about fliers, as I have plenty of ways to discourage attackers. Thank you, though!

I run a similar build and was wondering: are the Story Circles a little too slow? You need to sink a lot of mana into them if the opponent attacks with multiple creatures.

Also wouldn't Runed Halo be better in almost any occasion?

December 12, 2017 11:44 a.m.

Pieguy396 says... #16

Thanks for your comment, SaSSolino8! The Story Circles are a little slow, yes, but I can generally keep attacks down to 2 or 3 creatures maximum thanks to Ghostly Prison. Runed Halo has its uses, yes, but Story Circle's versatility makes me like it much more.

SaSSolino8 says... #17

Thanks for the quick reply. Ghostly Prison is so good that most of my deck is based around what to do if I don't happen to draw it, so I can see what you mean.

I'll test it myself and see how good it performs. Now if only Propaganda was Modern legal...

So I have to say, I played this deck last night at a FNM and I LOVE it. Thank you so much! It's in my colors and just horribly fun to play...brilliant. I have a two questions for you. Now, I haven't been able to get the Leyline's and Path to exile's yet which I'm pretty sure the answer to my first question will be "get those". LOL! But I played against a U/W control deck that was based on Jace, Memory Adept. I got milled out. So I'm assuming the answer would have been the Leyline's correct?

Question 2: What do think of Entreat the Angels in the side board?

Question 3: What do think of Argothian Enchantress instead of Eidolon? Cheaper, but you lose the enchantment aspect, I guess. IDK

Anyway, once again wonderful deck, I really had so much playing last night. :)

DeimosDragon Argothian isn't Legal in Modern.

Out of interest, aren't you running something like Runed Halo? And isn't Oblivion Ring better than Banishing Light because you can destroy it with the triggers on the stack?

Hey there, DeimosDragon! Thanks for the story! I'm always glad to hear someone enjoys one of my decks.

As for your questions:

  • Mill is a little bit of an issue here, so yes, I definitely believe Leylines will help with that.

  • Entreat is a fine card, but I don't know if this is the place for it. It hits its peak performance when you can reliably cast it for its miracle cost, but this deck likes to draw so many cards that I doubt it'll be possible to miracle it out that often.

  • Argothian Enchantress is undoubtedly the more powerful card, but it's unfortunately not legal in Modern. I would love to play with it, but that's unfortunately not possible :(

Thanks again! Glad you enjoyed!

@LeaPlath damn, I got sniped on my own deck lol

Runed Halo is a fine card, but I find that Story Circle is more versatile card in the maindeck (I pretty much always have the mana to activate), and Leyline of Sanctity is usually better in the sideboard.

As for O-ring vs Banishing Light, I don't have any ways to do shenanigans with O-ring, so they're basically the same card. I run a split because of fringe cards like Detention Sphere and Echoing Truth; the difference is irrelevant 99% of the time.

Hey PieGuy,

Thoughts on Dovescape and Suppression Field for sideboard?

February 20, 2018 9:11 p.m.

Pieguy396 says... #23

Hey, DeimosDragon!

Suppression Field is an interesting choice; I could see bringing it in on the play against decks with a lot of fetchlands (such as Grixis Death's Shadow), or perhaps against Counters Company. Not sure how useful it'll be elsewhere, though.

As for Dovescape, I don't really know where I'd bring it in; 6 mana is a lot even for this deck, and I don't know how good it actually is. Your thoughts?

February 20, 2018 9:42 p.m.

DeimosDragon says... #24

well I guess, I was thinking about taking out 2 Arbor Elf cause after playing this deck for a bit now, I don't seem to use them that much. So maybe then bring in something from the sideboard to the mainboard Path to Exile? IDK.

putting in the Dovescape I "think" could help with all sorts of decks that use planeswalkers, counters, control, burn, etc..etc. I mean it kind of gives all the enchantments a kind of hexproof right? And while it makes birds to block the angels with, they won't be attacking with them, and it takes 4 1/1's to kill a single angel, they loose eventually....but I don't know if I'm thinking through this right? Thoughts?

On second thought, you're right it is expensive and by taking out the elves that doesn't help that situation out, for sure...I don't know. But hey, this deck is rocking regardless!

Pieguy396 says... #25

@DeimosDragon you might be having different experiences than me with this (I haven't played this deck in a little while), but I find that the Arbor Elfs are really important to powering out that T2 Ghostly Prison, which is crucial in so many matchups. If you want to bring in the Paths, I'd probably go down Herald of the Pantheons, or perhaps the O-Ring effects.

As for Dovescape, if you're mainly looking to use it to protect your enchantments, I'd think Greater Auramancy would do the trick a lot better (and hopefully it'll be reprinted in Masters 25). Dovescape could be a budget replacement, though I definitely wouldn't cut the Arbor Elfs.
