I meant my version of your list that I've been playing with. I have been playing with me 4c Delver and it's done fine, although you really have to put on a fast clock.

Trying out Bonfire of the Damned in the slot that was Restoration Angel ...great against several top decks (Affinity, Pod, etc.) but as a Miracle kinda only want to see it of the top of the deck :) The Serum Visions help us plan a little for it; but I like it as a one of. It will of course take FAR more testing; but I like the idea for sure. Also thought of trying out Lightning Angel (one of my top 5 favorite cards EVER) but again...testing testing testing :) Let me know what you guys think!

It sounds like you want the slot to deal with swarms, have you ever considered Intimidation Bolt
It's a little bit on the high end of CMC for removal, but it does its job nicely, if that's what you want it for. Just a thought for another seldom used card since you mentioned Lightning Angel

nbarry223- You just gave me another card to obsess about :). I had completely forgotten about that card. That is awesome. I do prefer to have several seldom used cards in each of my decks to make them more unique. I may be adding it to my lightning blitz deck with Lightning Angel
. It fits the control style deck with more mana and fits the lightning theme!
LineDart- I will let you know how it tests. I think Bonfire of the Damned will help with some of the bad matchups. I have played 6 games thus far and haven't drawn it (of course).

I love how in depth your deck descriptions are. For someone who doesn't focus on his cards games like me), that is a very amazing learning tool. Much better than the 3 sentence descriptions most other builders have. (Pretty sure I am amoung them).

I have to say, that I am impressed also with how in depth everything about this is. I also have to agree with you on how Gitaxian Probe just doesn't get enough love. you got a +1 from me for all the work you put into getting this deck up on the site, and for all the thought you put into it.

Thank you to both daemon_panda and xenith4127 for their kind words and +1's. We try not to put every deck up that we brew. We only put on the brews that we think can be competitive and have something new to offer to the meta. We also like to show all of the in depth interactions that make the decks work well. Sometimes looking at a deck can be misleading. Without playing the list it is often hard to see how the deck functions in action. We do our best to show the reader how the deck plays.
This has been my favorite deck I have ever built. I love it so much I have foiled it out. I am going to post a pic of the deck at 50 votes and will post another pic when I get the new WMCQ promo Geist of Saint Traft
s.
Thanks again to everyone for their help and support! I'm always open to suggestions and just any thoughts on the deck or cards you like.

Wow man, bravo on the foils.. that must've cost a fortune. And a nice variation too. I went looking for an american aggro list to test against after seeing one put up some results in a modern premier in MTGO...

Mn3m0n1c- I did see that list the other day. I have been searching the results to see if anyone has picked up the deck. I have tried to spearhead the UWR Delver team, but it hasn't caught on yet. I think it will soon. That deck you send is very similar only it runs Young Pyromancer
instead of some of the top end cards. I love that someone else is having success with a similar deck.
The foils took awhile, but luckily I have collected for a little while so they weren't too terrible when I bought them. I plan on playing a variation of this deck for a long time so I will be happy to have this one built. I can't wait to get some of the new Geist of Saint Traft world cup qualifier promos.
Please keep me posted on the deck you end up trying out. I always love to see what other UWR Delver players come up with and to see how well they do with their builds. Thanks for the input and the +1!

yeaaaaa, I love the new Geist of Saint Traft art.. sadly my local worlds qualifier is on the weekend of my birthday and I'll be too busy to attend :( I am even missing a modern PTQ! I am gonna playtest this deck a bit more, I really hope it gets the same feeling as the Legacy delver decks.. sans Brainstorm Ponder Force of Will and all those other legacy shenanigans.
speaking of which, is RUG Delver viable with Tarmogoyf ? Or do you lose too much utility from white?Or is it the cost of foil goyfs that is driving you away haha

Mn3m0n1c- I also can't make the worlds qualifier. My birthday is August 17th. I am getting them at Gen Con or from local dealers if I can.
It is really tough to match the feelling of Legacy delver without Brainstorm , Ponder , Force of Will , and Daze , but this is as close as it comes in Modern in my opinion. This deck still works on the theory of getting a threat out, protecting it, and countering/removing whatever the opponent can muster.
I have seen several RUG Delver lists in modern that have been competitive. Tarmogoyf
is simply a one of a kind card and can't be replaced. However, I just love the versatility the white gives in modern. Especially in the side board. Also Path to Exile
is almost a must in the current meta for any non-combo deck. I like the UWR build, but I would not be surprised to see a RUG build work just as well. With Voidslime
, Trickbind
, and Shadow of Doubt
someone could pull off the Stifle
like effect in modern if they really wanted to. I also tried a RUG build utilizing Firespout
, but never could get it just right.
If you come up with a RUG build I would love to see it and hear about how it plays. Also if you continue to test this list, keep us all posted. Thanks again for the help!

Oh and yes, foil Tarmogoyf

Bonfire of the Damned hasn't been great in the mainboard so I am testing an all time favorite underplayed modern card of mine------ Swerve . If it doesn't work out I will also be testing Shadow of Doubt in it's place as well. I really hope the Swerve works because it is an awesome card!!

beleren272- I'm not really sure. I did a quick search at SCG prices a SP condition and the main deck was approximately $3,800 in retail price. I have also foiled out the sideboard so it's probably somewhere around $4,000 for the full 75. I'm sure if someone was patient and shopped around it could be built for $3,000- $3,500. Also, the replacing the judge foil Lightning Bolt
s, torment Grim Lavamancer
s, judge foil Vendilion Clique
, and modern masters Sword of Fire and Ice
would cut down the price considerably.
I plan on playing this one for a long time so it was worth the time and effort of foiling out the deck (in my opinion, but I have been called crazy on more than one occasion :) ) . If/when I play legacy I also like to play UWR Delver so most of the cards work in both decks. I'm sure once the prices start to level back out, the deck's worth will come back down to earth.
Thank you so much for the interest and the +1.

beleren272- Thanks again. I purchased them over from local game stores and through internet. I have collected for several years and these are some of my favorite cards so I have purchased them over a long period of time. I am somewhat OCD and love collecting so it was almost as fun looking for all of the rare foils as it is to play the deck. :)
As for your deck, what style do you like to play? Control, tempo, aggro, etc. Also what color do you normally enjoy? I personally like aggro/control or tempo style decks and almost always play red and/or blue. This style deck fit right into my wheelhouse. I also don't like "net-decking" . My brother and I love to brew and bring our own decks to play. There is nothing wrong with net-decking, it just isn't for me. Some of the best players in the world just bring the "best deck" and have done very well.
If you like aggro/control or tempo, I suggest giving this deck a try. If you like more control you can try the UWR midrange or control list or even come up with your own UW, WUR, UWB, control list. I would love to help you find your modern deck. Just shoot me a pm or message. Thanks again for kind words!

Thx CurdBrosBrewingCo - I love to play control/burn. I like the color combo of red and blue.

If red/blue control burn and blue white aggro had a baby it would be this deck :). I would suggest giving it a try. If it doesn't float your boat there are tons of options- Storm, a new WUR token deck like our Geist of Saint Token deck, UW control/aggro flash, etc. The best thing about this color combination is that there are so many efficient low costed cards you can build a deck that is really custom to your play style. Keep us posted on what you come up with or decide to play.

Hey Chargingbadgerrrrrrrr! I would LOVE to play Preordain and would play it over Serum Visions however currently it is on the Modern Banned List. I wanted to keep this as a Modern deck, so I couldn't use Preordain . Isn't it interesting how a simple switch in sequencing can change that much power within a card!
CurdBrosBrewingCo says... #1
I agree. Your's has more play in the early game and can put games away by taking care of their answers and beating down.. I REALLY want to play Dark Confidant , but just can't fit black into my build. Mine has a slightly higher curve (which could be a bad thing) to try to put away games that aren't won early. Both decks are awesome in my opinion. I'm going to test with yours as well. I have been playing around with a grixis delver build with Dark Confidant so I will change it up a bit to your list. Here is his list for anyone who wants to see it:
