Creature (2)

Enchantment (2)

This is a serious attempt at a modern competitive mono-red deck. The deck seems to be acting more like a midrange deck in match ups with a lot of creatures, because I keep clearing out the riff raff so that my goblin guides or Young Pyromancer plus elemental tokens can swing through. They often can provide a shield for the planeswalkers midgame as well. Chandra, Pyromaster is a big help for card advantage, by the time turn 4 or 5 comes around I've unloaded my whole hand, and her +0 ability basically gives me another burn spell or creature every turn. Also, sometimes I only need one or two more swings in and her +1 can take away a true midrange decks ability to stop me with their one huge creature. I believe Koth of the Hammer is absolutely under appreciated, he is a serious threat and game ender if not dealt with immediately. The Thundermaw Hellkite rounds out the midrange threats for the deck. The Blood Moon completely wrecks most decks in modern since they tend to be 2 to 3 colors with very few (if any) basics.
