I recently was building an EDH deck based around Varolz. Looking at his potential as a modern playable card, I threw together a deck that i've been fine tuning for the last two months. The deck is very tuned for anti control strategies as they are prevalent in the play group. That is why there are both thoughtseize's and IOK's. Thrun makes a big appearance main board for the same reason as well, to big for small sweepers like pyroclasm and what can hit him will leave both mine and my opponents board clean. Death's Shadow and Vexing Devil make for potential beaters and excellent targets for graveyard fuel. Faithless Looting, Gather the Pack, Satyr Wayfinder, and Grizly Salvage are my main means of loading the graveyard along with ripping the cards (mostly Varolz) i want from my deck. Blossoming Defense is in place to mitigate Path to Exile mostly the slight buff is nice for a swing but it is mostly protection. Abrupt Decay removes annoying obstacles such as ghostly prison and the like. The mana base is what i like to call very diverse due to the high potential for me to have a few different colored one drop spells. I am open to suggestions, help, or strategic advice. I have yet to build the deck, but i hope it to be a big hit at my local play store.
