Stax is a legacy deck built around once of my favorite cards ever Smokestack it is hands down one of the most interesting cards in magic. I have wanted to bring the demonic deck that is stax to modern for a very long time, because it is a format without real attrition there are no Wastelands land land death is barely a thing. This being the case it means that modern has evolved into a format that breaks under the power of attrition. This deck is designed to survive the battle of attrition and use cards like Magus of the Tabernacle Chalice of the Void World Queller to apply pressure while using effects like Crucible of Worlds to remain healthy our selves.

Notes on Card ChoiceSimian Spirit Guide- might seem odd, but he is there so i can turn one play a Chalice of the Void on one, which shuts off my opponents first turn play and makes their keep that much worse.

Oblivion Ring- I have the one path in there for desperate times, but O-ring is my catch all ideal that gets past my chalice and can be brought back with Sun Titan

Ethersworn Canonist and ghostly prision- shut down basically every combo deck before sideboarding even happens. also they get brought back by Sun Titan after your opponents squeak out an answer.

Warning: this deck is not straight forward cast my Tarmogoyf and beat face magic. This deck is a combination of both proactive and reactive play. When testing this deck I would like to remind you that your life is a resource, use it to time your locks and adjust your play strategy to your advantage.
