Introduction:
In our gaming group, we enjoy engaging in 1V1 and FFA matches with legacy decks consisting of 80 cards. This deck size helps us prevent milling, self-decking, and encountering additional copies of cards while also providing more options. Lastly, when I build a deck, I do it with flavor, I do not deviate from that flavor even if there are better cards in other colors or if there are less flavorful cards in the same color that function better.
Deck Strategy:
The fundamental strategy underlying this deck is the generation of creatures adorned with counters, which accumulate additional counters over time. These counters serve diverse functions through activated abilities, initially inspired by the modular evergreen keyword.
Card Draw:
In the realm of card drawing, two engines are at our disposal. However, with the assistance of Agatha's Soul Cauldron, every card becomes a potential source of card draw. As for dedicated draw engines, we rely on Mindless Automaton, Tribute to the World Tree, and The Great Henge.
Removal:
In terms of removal capabilities, our deck primarily features Walking Ballista, yet the versatile Agatha's Soul Cauldron bestows upon every creature the potential for removal. In addition, we also have Haywire Mite which functions similarly with Agatha's Soul Cauldron.
Ramp:
Our ramp options are somewhat limited, encompassing only The Great Henge, however the deck has a low mana curve and shouldn't need much.
Life Gain:
Life gain is achieved through the contributions of Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender, Tomb of the Spirit Dragon, and The Great Henge. While not the most potent life gain mechanisms, their cumulative effects become increasingly significant over time. Agatha's Soul Cauldron can also be helpful with Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender.
Counter Placement:
The deck's ability to generate +1/+1 counters is extensive. Notable inclusions such as Hangarback Walker, which becomes a formidable creature when infused with mana, and Walking Ballista, a counter magnet, but susceptible to removal spells. Arcbound Ravager enters the battlefield with counters, capable of sacrificing artifacts to bolster its counter arsenal. Agatha's Soul Cauldron virtually guarantees the addition of at least one +1/+1 counter per turn on any controlled creature. Furthermore, Tribute to the World Tree can generate up to two counters per creature if able. Patchwork Automation naturally grows with each artifact played. Meanwhile, Stonecoil Serpent is often used for its mana dump ability which can be a great trample creature. The peerless Steel Overseer reigns supreme as the foremost counter distributor in the deck, consistently granting counters to all creatures, and pairing well with Agatha's Soul Cauldron to beef the whole team. Ruins of Oran-Reif can pump a few extra counters into none-counter entering creatures. Mindless Automation enters with two counters but can accumulate more through card discarding extra lands and extra legendary cards. Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender who punishes opponents for removing artifacts. The Ozolith to catch loose counters and throw them back in your face. Lastly, The Great Henge stands as a counter powerhouse by guerentteeing a counter per creature.
Counter Movement Rewards:
To incentivize counter placement or movement, several cards come into play, including Hardened Scales, Agatha's Soul Cauldron, Animation Module, and The Ozolith, all of which confer rewards whenever a counter is introduced or relocated.
Utility Lands:
Our land base encompasses Tomb of the Spirit Dragon for quick life gain, While Tree of Tales supply essential color, they also offer the option of being sacrificed to Arcbound Ravager for a sudden power surge. The resolute Inkmoth Nexus proves challenging to deal with after a field wipe and harmonizes effectively with The Ozolith for quick kills. Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth can provide that needed color fixing for cards like Tribute to the World Tree. Ruins of Oran-Reif can provide extra counter boosts.
Win Conditions:
This deck achieves victory through diverse avenues. The first involves swarming the opponent with numbers using Hangarback Walker. The second strategy centers on overwhelming opponents with colossal creatures like Arcbound Ravager or Patchwork Automation. The most common path to victory is via the combination of Agatha's Soul Cauldron and Walking Ballista, effectively decimating each player's life total.
Sideboard Options:

Conclusion:
This deck has undergone a significant transformation to reach its present state. While the numbers may suggest a subpar deck, these statistics stem from a period months ago, before approximately 80% of the deck was revamped. The few matches I've played with this current iteration of the deck have proven exceedingly satisfying. I intend to continue updating the statistics as I strive to ascend the ranks with this deck.
Concerns:
This deck does not like Farewell.
Stats:
Lethality refers to a deck's remarkable efficacy in eliminating all players seated at the table. Lethal wins epitomize instances where a player successfully eliminates their opponents, while lethal losses denote missed opportunities to secure those kills. A player becomes a missed kill when either another player eliminates them or when the deck fails to eliminate the remaining player in time. Points are awarded in blocks of 10 for wins and losses, with smaller blocks granted if a player neither finishes first nor last. The ranking system ranges from A to E, with A representing an impeccably crafted deck and E indicating the need for further refinement.
