FINAL, FINAL update (04/15/20): NOTE: Beginning with Ikoria, I will no longer be updating this decklist location. You can find my full primer continued HERE at MoxField, along with a consistently updated decklist. Thank you all for your ongoing support over the years, I have been proud to continue to keep this primer alive and well, and will continue to do so elsewhere.

This is my top-performing combo control deck. It has a strong resiliency, going head to head with the meanest decks, and doing superbly in multiplayer.

Momir Vig, Simic Visionary is the engine that makes this deck rumble; he tutors for everything your little heart desires. One of the best sequencers nets you a possible 4-for-1, and populating the board aplenty (which helps massively when you have Gaea's Cradle down). Cast Shardless Agent, and stack the Momir Vig triggers and Cascade triggers like so:

  1. Resolve the green trigger, search for Coiling Oracle, put it on top of your library.

  2. Cascade into the Coiling Oracle, which triggers Momir Vig once again. Search for whatever you want (I tend to prefer Kiora's Follower, as untapping your Cradle is so sweet.) and use both the new Green and Blue triggers to put what you search for in your hand.

  3. Follow it up with the Coiling Oracle ETB trigger. If you get lucky once again, you've just ramped into a land. If not, you draw a card.

  4. Use the additional blue trigger from the Shardless Agent cast. If you're lucky, you'll reveal a creature, and bam! Another free card. Best case scenario, you'll gain four cards for just 1GU.

The deck wins by generating infinite mana, which it can do in multiple ways.

Cloud of Faeries + Temur Sabertooth also goes infinite when you have a Cradle that taps for 4 + 1 blue source, or either 6 green or blue devotion with Nykthos.

Once I've created infinite mana, I tutor for everything I want in the deck, most commonly Coiling Oracle + Thassa's Oracle (one draws me my deck, the other wins the game). Shaman of Forgotten Ways also comes in, and with no one having creatures on board, I use his Biorhythm ability to kill everyone but myself.

Hermit Druid + Thassa's Oracle is the Hermit Oracle combo that wins the game on the spot too!

Updates Add

Hello everyone! It has been almost two years since I started this change log, and it has served me well as a reminder of where the deck has been, and where it has gone. However, as I have now completed my Primer for the deck, I maintain my change log on the website where I keep my Primer - on MTGSalvation. Thus, if you are interested in following the deck for updates, I would recommend you check out my Primer page here.

I WILL STILL UPDATE THE DECK LIST ON TAPPEDOUT, HOWEVER I WILL ONLY UPDATE THE CHANGE LOG ON MTGSALVATION FROM NOW ON.
