I see what you're saying, that makes a lot of sense your list. I guess i was just thinking of mine, its more of an elfball build. If you're curious, this is where im at so far: clicky

Sir, this deck is fabulous. May I ask your permission to use this deck idea as a basis for one of my Wu-Tang decks? This would make a great GZA the Genius idea.

Really like this deck! Unfortunly my meta decided to play after dual edh rulings so havent access to fadt manarocks and cradle anymore .
Since your list dont run any 1mana dorks, i dont believe they can make the switch for the mana rocks... well must be signet and the other cheaper ones then. it'snot easy to find fast alternatives, so i'm thankfull for ideas :)
You already included amonkhet: thx for your review if new nussa and vizir. I was a bit disappointet since the lab. Maniac video but i think they are an great inclusion and i really like throne of the god-pharao! I run it with squirrelquraft as alternative wincon.

Thank you HeroesAreDead! I'm glad you like it.
It's sad to hear your group adopted the Duel EDH banlist, as it is definitely not designed for the multiplayer format of regular EDH. I would recommend replacing all of the fast mana rocks with things like Bloom Tender, Birds of Paradise, and other efficient mana dorks, or run a small Elfball package with cards like Priest of Titania.
I wouldn't pay much attention to the LabMan review of Amonkhet. They were pretty biased and not very fair of their review, and I think they seriously undervalued plenty of the cards in the set. Vizier and Nissa are great additions, and I will be testing with other cards in the coming time.
Let me know if you have any questions about the deck!

thx for answer :Di will try some elball combination i had left from my simic ezuri deck (before i switched to momir vig). since the duel edh meta is kind of slow maybe even ezuri+sage of hour can work (will test it)
i was wondering: since u already get infinit mana and run thrasios, have you tried laboratory maniac or walking ballista as an option for alternative win?
just in case that shaman of forgotten ways is unable to be played/completly removed and u cant get him back in any way.

Sup dude! I've been tweaking my vig combo list again. I found a way to combo out with protean hulk in simic so I'm trying to incorporate that into my list, although it unfortunately has a lot of dead pieces outside the combo. I'll let you know when I'm finished and I test it out :)
So last time we spoke, we were talking about commit // memory. I realized that I had originally misread the top part (didnt' realize it could bounce a creature too), but I still think it's too expensive, although it's a very powerful effect. Have you gotten a chance to test it out at all? I'm curious to hear your experiences with it. Props to you for testing it out instead of just blowing it off like some other people we've talked about ;)

Quick question! With Protean Hulk being unbanned as of yesterday, would you consider adding him anywhere in the deck?

Thanks for all the questions everyone! I'm going to combine my responses into one post for all recent questions.
HeroesAreDead, I have previously considered Walking Ballista, yes. However, both it and LabMan are somewhat dead cards without the infinite combo, and you can't play any dead cards when trying to run a tight list. If anything, I would keep a Walking Ballista in the sideboard as a mana sink that no one can interact with.
rockleemyhero, that was exactly my concern with Protean Hulk. I don't want to run a 7 drop that I need to find a way to sacrifice (Only got 2 ways to do that in the deck, neither of them creatures) and a bunch of dead cards otherwise. If you come up with anything, let me know, but so far I am skeptical about the Hulk.
Jaxrid, to answer your question, Hulk is a generally good creature, even if not using him to immediately assemble an infinite combo. However, this deck only has 2 sac outlets: Birthing Pod and Eldritch Evolution. Neither are creatures, nor would I want to run other sac effects just for the Hulk. It's a high-value creature definitely, but at 7 mana, and no easy way to sacrifice him, I don't see it happening at the moment.

oh budget alternative, nice! its always nice to have these kind of information since cards like "time twister" or the old dual lands are a real price challange.
Would be nice to hear more plays from "vizir of the menagerie"

HeroesAreDead, thanks for commenting!
I talk about Vizier of the Menagerie on my MTGSalvation Primer thread! I'd recommend taking a look there as well. He has been fantastic in my playing, and is definitely an all-star in the deck. That's also where I added the budget descriptions of the deck.

I really appreciate the love for Vig here. What is your personal meta like? Is it a bunch cEDH players, tuned casual, etc.?
June 27, 2017 2:44 p.m.
GoldenCapitalist says... #16
Hey TheCambodianHammer. Thank you! I too greatly appreciate Vig haha. I'd say that my meta has been a mix of decks, and that it's hard to distinguish between "casual" and "competitive." A lot of players have the funds to play whatever kinds of decks they want, with whatever cards they want (even playing things like Workshop and Tabernacle!) and they tune the decks as much as possible. Do they all run infinite wincon pieces? No. Would I call all of these decks "casual"? Probably not. There's also absolutely zero stax or storm present. So I'd say it's a mixed bag, but no T1 decks. Power level tops out at around this level.

So, I made a list for a budget version of your deck. I know it wont be as fast or effective but does it still work? http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/17-08-17-momir-combo/

Surprised there's no Glimpse of Nature. Goes quite brutally with Aluren.

Svata, thanks for commenting!
I don't run Glimpse of Nature because while it can be very good with Aluren, it's a very niche situation in which I can do that. The best thing about Aluren is that I can use it at instant speed - that means on other people's turns. Glimpse can't usually be cast at those opportunities. Additionally, Glimpse is not a may ability. If I am able to go infinite the turn I have cast Glimpse, I would deck myself and therefore lose the game. I don't personally find it worth running.
Azergyzhoul, what is most important is that your deck works for you! If you like it, you should keep playing with it :). I'm afraid your link is dead, so I can't look at your deck, but if you repost it I'll take a look for sure!

Is Time Spiral a good "budget" alternative to Timetwister?
January 11, 2018 12:27 a.m.
GoldenCapitalist says... #21
Hey there OptimalGreen thanks for asking!
Time Spiral is actually a fantastic resource, and a great card to use. It is absolutely a worthwhile replacement for Timetwister, and I actually keep one spare because it's that great! Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi OptimalGreen, thanks for replying!
Time Spiral is a great replacement card for Timetwister! While it's definitely still not a "budget" card, it can be just as useful. I would caution to be sure to use it more carefully, as it's 6 mana initially and can't be flashed back. However, it's still very good, and can potentially spiral you right into a combo win on the same turn! Please let me know if you have any other questions, thank you!

OptimalGreen thanks for the comment!
So I really like Nexus of fate. It's quite powerful, and stops you from ever decking yourself. Sadly, at 7 mana, it's a little win-more. I never want to pass the turn with 7 mana untapped, because I could just use that mana to try and win that particular turn. I am still looking for a deck to put it in, but it seems pretty great in more casual and slower decks!

I haven't given Paradox Engine any thought. At five mana it's a very high investment, and I'm not sure it does anything good for me. The only instances I could think of where it would be useful is if I had either Earthcraft of Azami out on the field. Neither of those warrant having a Paradox Engine that sits around and does little else for me (untapping a Sol Ring here and there isn't quite good enough).
I look forward to new possible cards coming out of Amonkhet that could prove useful additions to this deck.
