Sideboard

Maybeboard

The deck is built around getting the most of Fiery Cannonade. Main idea is to Control the amount of creatures on the board using spells that favor the deck, to have creature advantage and retain the Monarch.

1-drops are focused on either Control (Fanatical Firebrand, Mogg Fanatic) or Ramp (Impulsive Pilferer). Still undecided whether it's better to go for x4 Moggs, and only x2 Pilferers to focus more on Control. Goblin Grenade can help with any early control if needed, or cause direct damage at any point of the game. Good thing there's so many good Goblin Pirate spells available.

Fiery Cannonade is meant to clear the path for Goblin Trailblazer, Headstrong Brute, and Crimson Fleet Commodore to close the game down. Trailblazer and the Brute's Menace helps make Blocking a bit more awkward for the opponent, and the Commodore's Trample makes a great pair with Buccaneer's Bravado. It also pairs very well with either the Trailblazer (6 damage, with an option to use the Grenade on it after Combat) or Brute (8 damage) to deal a good chunk of damage, or to help a 1-drop blocker finish off an unexpecting attacker.

Rite of Flame helps give us some extra Mana in case we need it to pull off a super explosive turn. Reckless Impulse can help us with that as well. Thrill of Possibility is there to give us more draws, but also because sometimes we might not want to let the opp know we've drawn a Fiery Cannonade or Buccaneer's Bravado to use in their turn.

Sideboard is:

  • The 4th Goblin Grenade to try to outpace some Burn decks
  • The 4th Fiery Cannonade for decks that spam creatures (Elves)
  • The 4th Thrill of Possibility to try to outpace some Control decks
  • x4 Red Elemental Blasts to protect the deck's most important spells vs Blue matchups.
  • x2 Flaring Pains vs Fogblocks.
  • x2 Feldon's Canes for matches where they're playing heavy Control vs the deck's creatures.
  • x4 Scorching Dragonfires to use vs matches that use Late to Dinner, Angelic Renewal or black decks with a lot of Graveyard effects. Prefer paying an extra mana and deal 3 damage, to be closer to finishing off a x/4 creature like Soul of Migration or Stonehorn Dignitary with a Firebrand or Mogg.
