Kinda like Wicked Akuba or Nantuko Shade Better than Oona's Prowler because while you are giving them that temptation of discarding I don't think many opponents would take it. Also the shade especially helps you own the board a lot better. Just food for thought. I really like this deck and want to take it to modern.

Cabal Coffers isn't modern legal.

The Rack is very good to pox deck, this deck doesn't need it

Appreciate the suggestions -- I have found Prowler very effective in the deck because either they discard a card (good for me) or they realize what's happening and take 3 (good for two mana). Prowler also flies, which is nice.

I have a hard time with Tron, particularly GR Tron. I just upped to 4x Ghost Quarter, so I'm down to 2x Mutilate, and I don't know that it fits in the side anymore, as I have Vampire Hexmage and Vampire Nighthawk to deal with aggro decks. Any suggestions for two SB slots?

Also, what can I do to make the manabase better? Fetchlands?

April 7, 2013 10:27 p.m.

This might sound crazy but why not main Ghost Quarter as you can use it on yourself for extra deck filter. Then you can add Tectonic Edge to the board for the tron matchup. Another way you could 'fix' your manabase is to just draw more cards. Dark Confidant and http://static.tappedout.net/concept-cards/dgmsziggas-blood-scrivener_medium.pngBlood Scrivener will do well there.

I appreciate the thoughts -- I don't think you can really GQ yourself though, because that sets you back a turn in terms of land, right? I also tried Dark Confidant but found that Sign in Blood is better because it's more immediate, and I can't hit myself for 8 because I find Tombstalker :)

Dark Confidant is wanted in a deck with a low mana curve. In this deck he isn't so hot.

Have you considered making this GB, with a more "Rock" like feel? Currently, gifts runs a similar package with Life from the Loam and Raven's Crime .

So basically, you would be able to strip their hand repeatedly and play better creatures in GB to beat face with, and have better removal.

Sound intresting?

Sounds very interesting... in fact, your comment inspired me to take a crack at another deck. I'm going to keep this one intact, but I based ZombiePox on Smallpox and Dredge decks. It's a lot of fun to play, and has actually done pretty well so far (at least on Cockatrice). I'm also thinking about making that one mono B... I wonder if I just like mono B too much.

Mortivore is a must if your opponent's graveyards are getting bigger.

I believe Liliana's Caress would benefit this deck exponentially. It is legal in modern according to magiccards.info

Mortivore could be interesting, but not as good against non-aggro decks. I'll playtest it a bit and see what I think.

This actually used to be a Liliana's Caress deck, but I found that worked better as BR, because you could run silly things like Burning Inquiry for six damage.

As a fan of monocolored decks, I like this. I think your right not to run stuff like The Rack or Liliana's Caress . They sound good on paper, but are actually quite slow and don't offer much in the bigger picture. I don't think you need to use fetch lands. Raven's Crime and Liliana of the Veil can both use the extra swamps as fodder.

I dig the hell out of Mono Black Discard, it is my favorite deck that I have. I was going to make some suggestions, but I just noticed it's Modern and the only cards I could suggest are Vintage. Excellent list. +1

Nice... a match between *Thiopental and this one would be fun. And confusing. And frustrating.

Nice deck! Always love discard, look at mine for ideas : The Discard Rack & B/R Violent Discard Rack.

And I think you underestimates The Rack /Shrieking Affliction especially for mono-black.

+1 for Phyrexian Obliterator xD what a nice card. Dark Confidant helps, but Phyrexian Arena is cheaper in $$ and an enchantment.

Any thought about Ensnaring Bridge ?

I would look into a player of Dakmor Salvage. It combos extremely nicely with ravens crime, and your mana base seems open.

4x Liliana of the Veil? Jesus that's over $400 in itself. Good deck otherwise though.

Nice deck very similar to mine. I am also looking for a decent two drop lol.
