I'd run [rakdos shred freak] in stead of the spiteful returned it combos great with cackler or hero turn on for an easy 4 damage turn two and replace the gnarl hide with 2 copies of pack rat and play sets of master of feasts and pain seer because if it comes down to midrange(which i hopd never happens lol)and you have to go toe to tie with a something larger like a polukranos is something its great to chump a rat that u made from spare mana that's how I'm building my deck

And find room for a 4th downfall cause of Elspeth period lol
May 12, 2014 1:06 a.m.
I've thought about the 4th Master of the Feast , but I'm still not sure. It seems to me like having two on the board at once would be way too good for my opponent. Andrew Schneider ran a really interesting MBA list at SCG Knoxville yesterday that included Brain Maggot . He finished low 60's I think. I like the Spiteful Returned , because every time they attack it Shock 's the opponent. I have thought about running Thrill-Kill Assassin . Those seem to be a good way to push damage through Sylvan Caryatid and other blockers like Nyx-Fleece Ram . I'm sure I'll see more of those coming up soon.

._. Listen. Pain Seer, Brain Maggot, and Hero's Downfall DO NOT push for damage. EVER. So when your playing aggro stop trying to act like your control. please. Stop. play a set of Master of the Feast and Herald of Torment, a set of Spiteful returned, a set of the 3 one drops: Cackler, Scarhide,Tormented Hero. Splash red for this: set of spike jester, set of madcap skills, 3 dreadbore, and land. bam. DONE. play madcap on a master of the feast and its gg. really, a unanswered master of the feast in general is gg.

Well that's if u reaaly wanna splash but mono color is more consistent and a master of the feast unanswered in generally game either way I agree with the seer and downfalls but that's it I'd also board or main desecration demon and life bane zombie and no pack rats I feel dumb suggesting it
May 13, 2014 5:30 p.m.
I agree completely with Lifebane Zombie . I'm working on getting some of those. Pain Seer Hasn't been working for me, so I'm dropping them, but I think you guys are missing the point on so many other cards here. Thoughtseize effects help this deck win against opponents running more powerful creatures and control. Without the ability to take away a Supreme Verdict or a Polukranos or Elspeth. There are so many ways to derail an opponent's plan of action. That is why I think Brain Maggot can help this deck win consistently against the meta I face locally.

I think thought seize is perfect for the deck I run 2 myself but j think brain maggot is more a sideboard card for the control deck lists because the life ban zombie and thoughtseize takes our most of your threats before they big the board but that's how I play personally

I agree with you shadow, but jeboner says that's how he likes to play personally and he is the one playing this deck so I just told him my opinion on hand removal. I've tried telling him this, but he did not comply. so. yeah.
May 16, 2014 10:54 a.m.
If this was control it would be focusing on even more creature removal and bigger threats with a much higher curve. Seriously, at this point running Brain Maggot is just an idea. I'm looking at all of the black 2-drops to try and optimize the deck. I know black aggro is going to be a threat in the current meta. It's just a matter of finding the right creatures for the curve and perfecting the discard vs. removal ratio the deck needs. I can't play this weekend. Family is in town. I'll be testing the deck next week, so I'll try to report back with any results.

yah know... madcap skills and dreadbore are great 2 mana costing cards... just sayin.
May 21, 2014 10:37 p.m.
If I had Blood Crypt and Temple of Malice . I don't really have the money to go get those lands right now. I'm just trying to optimize it as a mono-black deck. I know it will be a solid deck, maybe even after rotation.

no offense but i cant believe a burn deck couldn't beat you with all the life you lose in the main board since there is no life gain for you
May 24, 2014 10:36 p.m.
This looks a lot like my Suicide Black deck. It's been working really well, too. My friend took the deck idea and is having such a good time with it, he's foiling the whole deck. As someone who loves sui-B decks like this, I should let you know you've certainly got the right idea, and if you need help learning how to pilot it correctly, I'm up for asks! +1, btw
May 24, 2014 10:45 p.m.
Tyrannosary It helped that my opponent never hit more than three land in game one. The Brain Maggot helped slow him down as I took some key burn spells away when he needed them. Mogis's Marauder was the all-star in that game. In game 2 Whip of Erebos and its lifegain really saved me. I have that card in the sideboard specifically for the burn match-up and sometimes other aggro decks as well. I was also very careful with my Thoughtseize use. I really only used them to strip his hand late in the game when I was very close to winning the game.

Tyrannosary Thank you.
thuzra I appreciate the offer. What in your opinion are the most difficult match-ups for a deck like this one?
May 27, 2014 12:46 a.m.
Most difficult would have to be anything that can handle fast aggro and a 5/5 flyer on turn 3. So, basically UWR control is probably the worst matchup. Followed by any other deck that runs 4 Supreme Verdict or Anger of the Gods maindboard. Even these are winnable though; they can't get rid of all of your threats forever, and they only have four board-wipes. And, if they're smart and lucky, a burn deck could kill you without anything you can do about it. If they just kill you before you can establish yourself or if they pick off all your threats then you're just dead in the water.
Basically, any deck that can race has a chance. But you can pack in removal like nobody's business (benefit of mono-black), so don't worry about it. Do have 4 Devour Flesh somewhere, though; Hexproof is a thing, and it's not getting worse any time soon. Any deck that can clean your clock in short order has a decent shot, too. And what's bad is that there's not much interaction you can have with control. So having 4 Duress in the 75 is very smart for you.
Everything looks decently taken-care-of, though, so you've done well.
