Ratchet Bomb s could be useful here against enchantments/equiment. +1

I also have been working on an MBC deck for standard. It started off with a heavy focus on discard like this deck, but with Sacrament as a focus for deck neutering, but I found it to not take off, providing only enough defense for a late game loss. Take a look, suggest anything deck:yup-mbc

Okay, So I've been advised for adding Ratchet Bomb but I don't know what to take out, anyone have any suggestions?

Personally, rather than Ratchet Bomb , I would take out the 2 Sangromancer s and add in 2 card:Black Sun's Zenith. If you have a lot of goblin and elf decks in your local environment, I could see swapping the 2 Liliana Vess in your sideboard for 2 Ratchet Bomb but I would probably just go with another 2 card:Black Sun's Zenith even then.

I don't think the format has the right cards to make this a true top tier threat, but it is becoming a very polished deck. +1 from me.

I took the suggestion, but now with only 8 creatures available, I'm kind of worried.

I know it's not a perfect comparison, but I have a stasis deck with only 4 creatures, and one of them is mostly for flavor. And it's brutal. Provided you can win, creatures simply don't matter. In your case, you can kill quite fine without the creatures, and you have ways to eliminate your opponents creatures, hopefully before they kill you.

I would take Urge to Feed out of your sideboard. If you want to add Ratchet Bomb , that would make a decent place to add it, otherwise 2 more card:Black Sun's Zenith. Then when you face creature heavy decks like goblin, elf, and some vampire decks, you can have 4 Doom Blade , 4 Grasp of Darkness , 2 card:Black Sun's Zenith and either 2 Ratchet Bomb or two more card:Black Sun's Zenith. None of them fare truly well against that kind of removal. Especially because the best way to defend against a board wipe is to keep a few creatures back in your hand, which is where they are most vulnerable to your discard deck.

Good luck

I like it. Everything looks good, except I would -2 doom blade from the sideboard and +2 go for the throat just so you have all your bases covered. You may also want to consider Bloodchief Ascension , since so much of your deck deals exactly 2 damage.. even sign in blood would work. Just something to consider :)

Oh and I agree on despise. It would be perfect if you -2 duress and +2 despise

I might want to take out Sign in Blood and use Howling Mine , cause you know, it's a discard deck and you need your opponent to have a hand, so you can wipe it out.

Thats the beauty of sign in blood, he can make his opponent lose 2 life, draw to cards, and make them discard those cards. :)

I agree with infectorus, i'm keeping the Sign in Blood s in the deck.

No one has mentioned this but try to put in Keening Stone it will destroy his/her deck after youve discarded his hand and killed his creatures, just F*** everything up

Keening Stone won't fit in this deck. Unless you're playing to mill everything, you shouldn't play mill at all. As long as you're controlling their hand and they have nothing in it, you have no reason to mill and spend all of your mana each turn.

I'd be packing some Deathmark s in your SB. I don't use a black deck without them. Also, Nighthaze is an underdog-card, of sorts, and I find a lot of people playing black nowadays. Expect even more people using black with New Phyrexia on its way.

warren678 says... #23

And that right there is the reason I don't use Keening Stone, but I don't know what to switch for those two.

Oh, a few new cards you may want to look into: Surgical Extraction is amazing with duress/despise, and it can be done turn 1 because the extraction can be paid for with two life. Say bye bye to all copies of Jace turn one, or whatever combo they may have =P

Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank = game over. It works very well in your deck because you consistently do 2 damage almost every turn.

Dismember may be a good replacement for grasp in darkness. Especially against infect decks. even paying 2 life and then 2 black for that extra -1-1 could be worth it.

Phyrexian Obliterator may be my new favorite card. He may be able to replace grave titan, because he can get on the field early, and you can make them discard removal that would cause him a problem. At the very least he is sideboard material... against red he is practically unstoppable. I would -2 geth or sadistic sacrament for him.

Last but not least, Entomber Exarch may be a suitable replacement for the specter. The really nice thing about him, is that you can choose the card, and if there is another copy of him in the graveyard, you can play him again.

Anyway, just some ideas! Oh, and I really don't like keening stone ;)

I think you could ditch Grasp of Darkness and Doom Blade from your side-board for Deathmark and possibly Nighthaze . Memoricide seems a bit useless now, with Surgical Extraction being the way it is.
