i like the deck but i'd take out 2Duress for 2 more Inquisition of Kozilek because it is just better than duress.

@djd1002: I disagree. I'm curious as to your reasoning?

I actually tried to switch those before, it wasn't working as well as the way I have it now.

And I'm curious as well too.

i say that because right now there is more for Inquisition of Kozilek to grab than there is for duress.

I think that between the six 1-mana discards in the deck, the balance of 2/2/2 is about as utilitarian as it gets. Having 2 Inquisition or Despise in the SB might be helpful if you're facing an aggro deck, though

And what would you do if they start with Leyline of Sanctity which a lot of decks are running? You have no way to get rid of it and almost all your cards rely on targeting them, except for the enchantments which are late game and easily dealt with by themselves.

this is kinda like mine but more aggro http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/discard-dischord/

Honestly, if they have the Leyline, then I'm screwed. But this is a casual deck for me.

i would consider Lashwrithe theres not a lot in mono black thats as terifing as an obliterator getting pumped and running over your opponent and better yet if they block it just helps the control base and you wont lose the obliterator to a well timed Dismember .

So the question is, what exactly do I trade out for it?

SwiftDeath says... #15

im not sure what to trade out for it, but another card that could be usefull would be Temple Bell make you and your opponent draw and then immediately discard just be carefull not to let them get any game winning cards it would be a great combo with Liliana Vess so you could constantly use her + ability and do damage with the caresses.

actually i just thought mind rot might be a good card to remove yes it lowers your chance to draw a discard card but it's also a 3 drop a little slow against aggro decks where as the control aspect and using temple bell or lashwrithe mid game could make a huge difference.

Why Extended? No Hymn to Tourach and no Mind Twist .. Anyway, what about Shrieking Affliction ?

Quest for the Nihil Stone is brutal, but also a pinch unreliable if it comes down late. Either I'd swap 'em out for a playset of Shrieking Affliction , OR go half-and-half if you feel uncomfortable leaving the Nihil Stones out.

Ever seen Nyxathid perchance?

... The last comment on this deck before NocturnalAristocrat's was a week shy of two years prior. Chances are this deck hasn't been dusted off since all of this was Standard.

I also got the update for comments on this deck, gotta agree with zandl here :)

Made a few adjustments, any more suggestions?

Looks good, aside from the fact that Mind Twist , Hymn to Tourach and Nyxathid are not extended legal. That instead makes this deck Vintage legal.

To rectify this you should sub out mind twist and the hymn, and move this deck to the Modern format. With those 5 new slots I would add 3-4 Thoughtseize and/or Wrench Mind , and 1-2 Mind Sludge . Maybe consider 1-2 Scepter of Fugue as well; repeatable discard is amazing, it's low cost, and it will eat up O-rings and removal instead of your Liliana. The instant speed also hoses blue decks that like to draw cards at the end of your turn. Further if you attack with something like Nantuko Shade (later discussed) while the scepter is in play it throws that many more variables at the opponent.

I would also probably take out 2 Dismember and 1 Lashwrithe and add 1 Go for the Throat and 2 Damnation . Your weakest matchups will be against RDW, aggro and (possibly) midrange. Damnation is a best defense as a clear-all card to keep your opponent locked down, and IMO one of the best Black cards available. It should have a slot in here somewhere.

You need a sideboard. I would personally SB 2x Memoricide and 2x Cranial Extraction to get rid of problem cards for your deck. Any deck that subs in Leyline of Sanctity against you could throw the game. Thus the rest of your SB should probably be a creature alternative to an opponent that can somehow resist your discard effects. Maybe consider SB 1 Damnation , 2 Wurmcoil Engine , 1 Grave Titan , 2 Tendrils of Corruption , 3 Vampire Nighthawk and 2 Nantuko Shade . The Nighthawks would work especially well with Lashwrithe .

Forgot to mention, depending on your meta, you could look at mainboarding two or so Sangromancer to reap the rewards of your many kill and discard effects. Just a thought. If you wipe the board with her and a dozen opposing creatures on it, her ability will still trigger.
