Yeah the only thing I have changed so far is adding the Distended Mindbenders. I am still testing with them and seeing how well they work.

Flaying Tendrils should go in the sideboard once Languish is gone. There's going to be a foil promo for this card at Friday Night magic events too not that far away from now which is cool.

Unfortunately not enough people showed up for standard FNM this week so week had to skip it. I will definitely give an update after next friday though.

I really liked this deck and decided to buy it recently. The only thing that really hasn't worked out great for me with it is Wasteland Strangler. The only time you really want to play it is on turn 3 is when you play a transgress the mind on turn 2. I'm swapping out 2 of them for 2 Read the Bones which I think would be a more useful card whether it's turn three or later in the game. It can help dig for big guys like Kozilek, the Great Distortion, Reality Smasher, or just help you get the extra lands or removal that you need.

Additionally, if you don't play Wasteland Strangler you don't really need exile based removal. You could sub 4 Complete Disregard for 4 Grasp of Darkness for one less mana and Titan's Presence for Ruinous Path for more removal options for the same mana cost. I just think the lower mana cost removal helps out when you play decks that flood the board very quickly from turn one like g/w humans. Grasp of Darkness and Ruinous Path are just arguably better removal spells that are a lot less conditional as well

pingaspingas the proposed changes I think are right an 'other paper may be ob nixilis

My deck uses a great removal package. It uses Grasp of Darkness, Murder, Ruinous Path, Bearer of Silence, and Blighted Fen. Btw mimic is late game when you have big eldrazi to play late game.

peldriver yeah I was thinking about testing out ob nixilis as well. I'm going to sub out two copies of Oblivion Sower for him and see how it goes. If you wanna check out the changes I've made here's my deck Standard Mono Black Eldrazi Control

shepherdofire yeah those are all really great removal, I'm using pretty much the same minus Murder

Murder is better than price. Id side price and add murder main.

August 11, 2016 3:09 p.m.

Noctem says... #14

I disagree that murder is better than price. If that were true, you would see Murder everywhere since many decks use black, including tier 1. Even Sultai Control or Orzhov decks run maybe a single in the main but usually always run 2 Ultimate Price in the main. 2CMC is better than 3CMC, that alone is enough to make murder the worst card. At least until Kaladesh comes out, price is the better card hands down.

What's your match up against zombies? I playtested this deck against mine pre-sideboard a couple of times and my deck seemed to win by a small margin because my creatures kept on coming back. There is only so much that exile can do. I can discard my cards in response to your exile, putting my important cards into the graveyard for later recursion. Game 1, you took a Diregraf Colossus, and I managed to get a Sinister Concoction and a couple of Prized Amalgam s into my gy, which turned the game heavily into my favor. Game 2, your deck's opening hand had 2 transgresses and some other hand attack, which took out my 2 Prized Amalgam s and a Voldaren Pariah  Flip. Still, I managed to get a couple of Haunted Dead s into my gy. I was annoyed that the transgresses took out my amalgams, but the haunted dead s managed to get the job done, along with a well-placed Dark Salvation. Post-sideboard, I think that the story might be different with Kalitas, but I think that the ability to use the gy as safety gives zombies a huge advantage game 1. Still a really nice and annoying deck that kept on exiling all my stuff.+1 from me :D

BTW this is the deck that I used:

Just so everyone knows if you buy this deck without the foils and alters it's $100 even so it's budget also and can snake some tournaments to get you the deck you want, or until this deck warms up on you and you build your bant eldrazi modern list with your countless winnings lol

jamesfiek says... #18

Well, without foils, the TCGplayer mid price goes down about $45 so it's still around $150 which is still not bad as far as decks go. As I change the deck I list the updates in the updates area, but if you have any specific questions I am open to answering. :)

Looking at this deck. My only question is how much work does bearer actually do? It seems clunky to me.

Bearer of Silence turns out to be one of the best cards in the deck. The tempo swings can be ridiculous. Against more token based strategies it is still fine pre-sideboard as something to play on turn two. It is especially good against control where no matter if they have a counter spell they still sacrifice a win-con. Maybe one could be moved to the sideboard to be replaced with something, but 4 main seems to work really well for me. :)

I know spoilers are not over for Kaladesh yet, but what do you think about Demon of Dark Schemes so far?

jamesfiek says... #22

Seems solid against tokens for the sideboard. Triple black may be a little awkward at times, but I think it could definitely work.

Granted there a but a few more weeks left for it, how is the match up vs. Bant Company? My LGS is full of the deck, and I like playing something different and have been on Eldrazi for a while now, and I'm just seeing where all the different variations of mono black I've seen on here stand.

The matchup is kind of one sided most of the time. Either it's a massive blowout or a massive loss. The Languishs and and cheaper removal in the sideboard really help to fend off the early game threats. Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet is also really nice to gain some life and make some blockers. I'd say it's about 50/50.

Hey man, I've played with this deck for a month now. I have 4 cards that are different because I don't own the ones your version calls for: 2 Spatial Contortions instead of Reave Souls (meh) and 2 Ob Nixilis in place of 2 Oblivion Sowers. What do you think of Ob's card drawing ability? Have you considered it? Or should I invest in 2 more Sowers?
