A Relentless Rats (and rat colony) Deck is a fun idea. The major problems with the deck that I've discovered is that the deck has a tendency to be very slow because the rats cost 3 a piece. Historically, I've thrown in dark ritual with varying degrees of success; however, dark ritual isn't modern legal and if I wanted a legacy there are better options (modern and commander seem to be the best formats for this deck type). Thrumming stone is a great and well known combo that's difficult to pass up in a rats deck, so it is included here. Marrow-Gnawer is added to give the rats fear (though rat colony seems to have more synergy with this card than relentless rats). I'm experimenting with the use of Aether Vial to speed the deck up- but I'm not sure if it has a place here or not. Finally, Phyrexian Arena is included because it seems to speed up the deck quite a bit and is useful for coming across a thrumming stone and ensuring plenty of lands (once you get to mid-game/end game with 6 lands- the deck really starts moving). One weakness that this deck has is a lack of defense. I haven't had a chance to play it in the current meta against newer decks, yet so if you all have suggestions- please help a brutha out (I stopped playing in 2011 and recently got back into it in May of 2023). I'm considering experimenting with other cards that remove opponents creatures, but I don't want to slow the deck down even more. Thanks for any help :)
