Oh hey, I'm playing this deck again. 20 people, 5 rounds.
Round 1 - Vs. Selesnya
Really cool guy. Normally plays Izzet Counterburn, but wanted to try something new with a budget G/W deck.
The only thing Selesnya normally has against this deck is their Charm to exile Thassa. He only had one, and Nightveil got it Game 1.
Game 2 went a bit longer cause he Pacifismed Thassa, but then cast Banisher Priest to exile my Nightveil, not realizing that even though his intentions were good, he basically handed me the game. Thassa turns back into an enchantment due to devotion loss, Pacifism falls of because it can't enchant enchantments, I disperse the Priest at EOT, and the unblockable party at the Conclave started on my turn.
Match Record: 1-0, Game Record: 2-0
Round 2 - Vs. Dimir Control
Same U/B deck from a couple weeks ago. Same outcome as last time. Clean sweep for Mono Blue.
Match Record: 2-0, Game Record: 4-0
Round 3 - Vs. Moo Cows/Mighty Mogis Power Bovines (R/B Minotaurs, and yes, that's what we call it at the shop)
Hoo boy, didn't think the rodeo was gonna start until later in the night, but oh well. I've only beaten this deck ONCE...and it was the first time I played it. He's beaten me 3 straight since.
Game 1 I'm able to hit for 13 exact, otherwise he would have killed me next turn.
Game 2 he explodes. I'm dead before Master hits the field.
Game 3 goes down to the wire. He forces me to basically trade my entire field in order to stay alive with 1 life and one creature...only for him to use Radkos Charm. Dang. Make it 4 straight for the Mighty Mogis Power Bovines (holy crap this name works SO MUCH BETTER than Moo Cows).
Match Record: 2-1, Game Record: 5-2
Round 4 - Vs. Mono Red
Same Mono Red deck as a couple weeks ago....you get the idea.
Match Record: 3-1, Game Record: 7-2
Round 5 - Vs. U/W Control
New guy, playing for about a month...using a deck that even I would have trouble playing. He borrowed it from a friend of his, and has all the bells and whistles...except board wipes. That is what spelled his doom Game 1. How are you going to survive 24 Elementals without Verdict?
Game 2 becomes a counter war, with me winning the attrition game.
Match Record: 4-1, Game Record: 9-2
Not that bad of a night...until standings are called. My buddy Tarren (who played the Golgari Things deck) won, and Randy took second. Then the machine had to compute for almost a minute to see who took third. And it wasn't me. I was fourth by 8-tenths of a percent by Opponents Win Percentage. GAH.
Oh well.
