Mono-Green Big Stomp

Historic* Mono-Green

Sideboard

Created for use on Arena, this deck was Standard-legal until today (and I believe will be Standard-legal in paper until Forgotten Realms comes out later this month). The goal is to ramp on turns 2 and/or 3 and start playing big creatures somewhere around turn 4 or 5, and (with the help of some card draw), almost every turn from then on.

It's 65 cards. I was planning to test it, take out a few that weren't working as well, and get it down to 60...but it functioned rather well as-is, in competitive play on Arena. Certainly it could be improved, especially for Historic format now that it's no longer Standard-legal.

The deck does well against other midrange decks, and can be competitive against aggro and control as well, though it tends to struggle more against very fast decks and decks that pack a lot of creature removal or can shut creatures down in other ways.

Key cards: Sudden Spinnerets and Ram Through are used to get rid of opposing creatures, particularly those with flying and (in the case of Ram Through) deathtouch, which can be problematic. Tangled Florahedron   can be used as ramp, or as a land if you're short on those (the deck can struggle without 3 lands, or 2 lands and a 2-mana ramp, in the opening hand). Field Trip is not only ramp, it also gives access to your sideboard (lessons). Of these, Introduction to Annihilation is usually the best choice (or Containment Breach , if there's a specific artifact or enchantment you wish to remove). Arasta of the Endless Web is excellent against decks that rely on instants and sorceries; don't expect her to survive long (but she can help draw a removal spell that otherwise might have been saved for one of your heavy hitters). Ironscale Hydra or Elder Gargaroth can come down as early as turn four and take over a game. Kogla, the Titan Ape and Thorn Mammoth have built-in removal Beanstalk Giant is both a solid ramp spell and a good creature later on. Rampaging Brontodon and Treeshaker Chimera are devastating finishers Garruk, Unleashed pumps your creatures and gives trample to those, like Beanstalk Giant and Gigantosaurus that lack that ability.
