I lied, it's really White + Blue Birds
Azorius Squadron Hawk + Empyrial Armor + other birds = Hello, Big Bird.

Cast birds, then Empyrial Armor, draw cards, then swing.

  • Ideally, you would start with Cloudfin Raptor, and evolve it by casting anything else. Other 1-drops include Healer's Hawk and Battlefield Raptor.
  • Next up are Sage Owl and Thrummingbird. The former helps you set up your next four turns, while the latter is important for ensuring your weenies can continue to grow and remain threatening.
  • Squadron Hawk is a special case. Being part of the Empyrial Armor combo, sometimes you might want to wait to cast this card so that you can fill your hand. But sometimes you may need those bodies for chumps, or to make your draw more effective. Try not to waste this card's potential for your given situation.
  • Stalwart Aven is a 3-drop with Renown, so if it hits the opponent once it'll get a +1/+1 counter that Thrummingbird can proliferate.
  • Last among the creatures is a couple Expedition Raptors with Support 2, meaning when it enters, two other creatures will get +1/+1 counters.
  • The win condition is Empyrial Armor, which makes a creature bigger for holding more cards in your hand. Pretty cool, but the ways in which you fill your hand with cards is more interesting.
  • To start, Winged Words will never cost you full price unless you have no creatures out, which is unlikely. Two mana for two cards is about as good as it gets in pauper, except for things like...
  • Airborne Aid draws you a card for each bird on the battlefield (including your opponents', if they have any), which in an all-birds deck is straight up broken. (You'll notice I don't actually have Airborne Aid in the deck, and that's because I don't own any, yet. When I do, I'll update, but for now, I'm using Foresee as a placeholder.)
  • Last of all, Idyllic Grange can put +1/+1 counters on things also, while Lonely Sandbar can be cycled to draw a card. Azorius Chancery can allow you to reuse one of the above lands that you had to play early, or can gain you an extra life from the Tranquil Cove in a pinch.
