The very color you wouldn't expect running control: doing exactly that! The deck is really quite simple.Step 1: Play out some defenders like Axebane Guardian or (preferably) Overgrown Battlement and start the epic ramp!Step two: A: Swing in for some serious damage with
Treetop Village
and Dungrove Elder.B: Try to hardcast an Avenger of Zendikar or Worldspine Wurm or even a Craterhoof Behemoth and win with the domination and inevitability they bring to the table.C: My favorite, cast a Tooth and Nail and tutor them both up!
Now, obviously, those are expensive cards that take a few turns to get to. How are we going to get there?
Mwonvuli Acid-Moss: A double whammy. We get a forest, and you lose a land! Simple as that.
Plow Under: Not drawing any lands? Maybe I can help you with that. Seriously, though. If your opponent has no cards in their hand they can cast, you just cast two Time Walk. Otherwise, you're still depriving them of two turns of drawing cards that could hurt you!
Master of the Wild Hunt
: Maybe the best green creature that exists for this deck. He slows down aggro-decks by creating blockers. He stops ramp by having his army fight whatever creature they ramp into (even Emrakul, the Aeons Torn). He'll overrun control with creatures. This man does it all, and for a measly four mana.
Garruk Relentless
: Wolves. Don't forget that
Master of the Wild Hunt
makes these guys fight too. In a pinch, you can make Garruk Relentless
fight a guy, flip him over, and hopefully tutor for one of your bombs. His overrun like ability is incredibly weak to this deck, so you can pretty much ignore it, though giving all those wolves +2 +2 and trample could possibly end the game.
Well, there you have it. MonoGreen control, and not for very much, either! If you can think of any (fairly cheap) cards that would help out this deck, I'd love to hear from you guys.Until then, happy shuffling!
