I'm going to vie for Silklash Spider rather than Deadly Recluse as a sideboard card, because it will generally be able to better deal with more flyers and you won't have to rely on Prey Upon to get them to attack it. :3

Any thought to Predator Ooze or Acidic Slime ?

I love cards like Predator Ooze, primordial hydra, taurean mauler ect. They get beefy all by themselves its awsome

I really like this deck idea, I'm considering building it and checking it out!

Interesting deck!

It seems to be the mono-green version of my Charms of Selesnya deck.

The main difference being that your focuses a bit more on buffing, while mine (green/white) uses more removal.

The thing with Predator Ooze and Acidic Slime is that they detract from the main objective of the deck.

Acidic Slime is not of much use after he lands on the battlefield unless you have a way to self-bounce him, and Predator Ooze , although currently one of my favourite cards, is a little too slow to build up and contests the two very important 3-drop playsets in this deck: Champion of Lambholt and Wild Beastmaster . Also the potential for a really fat Predator Ooze is kind of unnecessary in this deck, as even my Elvish Visionary s are capable of becoming monsters when paired with Wild Beastmaster

Most of my creature picks are based on utility, and how they help towards my main objective, and while both oozes would help to an extent, I would be reluctant to swap anything for them at this point, at least until after this deck is properly piloted.

Nice build man! But if you have card:Avacyn's Pilgrim maybe you should think of splashing white for Loxodon Smiter , Selesnya Charm , and Silverblade Paladin . They seem to fit quite well in this kinda deck!

I have a deck very similar to this except I run the other garruk and use scavenge... that wild beastmaster and lambholt are too good together :) +1

I love the idea of the deck. Mono color decks are also nice on the budget and this one works kinda nice! +1

I like this deck but I have one question: why do you have card:Avacyn's Pilgrim when you dont have any white mana cards?

November 1, 2012 10:53 p.m.

atrasicarius says... #15

I would probably go with card:Death's Presence instead of Increasing Savagery. Also, you might consider Young Wolf instead of Avacyn's Pilgrim. This deck doesn't call for all that much ramp, and the Pilgrim has the awkwardness of providing W instead of G.

Bababad says... #16

I would heartily support card:Death's Presence as well, but not at the cost of Increasing Savagery because the two synergize so well. Though this may be a tad late game to fully help.

I'd play Craterhoof Behemoth . He is a nice finisher and a great combo with Champion of Lambholt or Wild Beastmaster . Or with Garruk, Primal Hunter . I'd cut the Increasing Savagery

Nice deck, +1.

I'm digging the synergy, but what really puts me head over heels is how affordable this deck is. +1

Wow, not bad. What do you think about something powerful like the Worldspine Wurm as an "ultimate weapon"?

@my_gizmo Thanks man, I may end up splashing white, but until I see this deck in action (tonight), I will be leaving it mono green.

@Panda213 Thanks for the +1 (this applies to everyone!) And I agree, its an epic combo.

@Phat_Shadow Thanks!

@SamuelThrasher1996 I have card:Avacyn's Pilgrim to simply give me more mana-boosting 1-drops. The colour does not matter much when I want to get out either of my main cards on turn two: Champion of Lambholt and Wild Beastmaster , as they only have 1 green. The 7 mana-producers give me over a 70% chance to get one in my opening hand.

@atrasicarius Yeah I just prefer Increasing Savagery over card:Death's Presence. The latter card is just a bit too slow for my deck. I will be potentially looking for an alternate 1-drop, but despite Young Wolf being my favorite green common right now, I think I would prefer a 1-drop with a bit more utility.

@Bababad Yeah card:Death's Presence is just too slow for this deck. I want them dead quicker xD

@Scaglio I do like Craterhoof Behemoth , but Increasing Savagery has the potential to end the game waaay quicker than it would take me to get him out. Thanks for the +1!

@spartanvi Yeah it really is quite a comparatively cheap deck for its effectiveness, thanks for the +1 dude.

@LordRemiemI'm afraid in a deck like this, where synergy is key, having a random (if epic) fail-safe option is really just taking up space that could be used to pull off the combo effectively. Thanks regardless for the suggestion!

@AllAlso a big thanks to everyone for commenting and giving me advice, I have taken it all on board. Lets see how it does tonight at FNM and then I'll look at what this deck lacks in my meta. Thanks for all the +1, all.

Slitherhead would be a solid one drop, I replaced the young wolfs in my deck with it. The free counter on you champ or beastmaster is hard to beat :)

Hidden_Blade says... #22

@Panda213 Oooh Slitherhead could definitely work, and for the sake of this deck would work much better than the Young Wolf s. Hmm indeed, nice idea man, thanks.

my_gizmo says... #23

Slitherhead sounds like a great idea! Good luck in your games tonight, man! Having either the Champion of Lambholt or Wild Beastmaster out can end the game but having them out at the same time is pretty epic, haha. Have fun and let me know how you did!

Hidden_Blade says... #24

Thanks Gizmo, I have hope that it will do well, but we have a really big FNM group so the the competition will be harsh. Wish me luck!

According to the site, Slitherhead is not legal in any formats. Is that right?
