Modified modern blue moon deck, replacing some of the early burn/counter with Chandra, Pyromancer and Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker and maindecking Keranos. Since I have so many more 4/5 drops, I also added a couple Izzet Signets to make getting to 5 a bit easier/more consistent. I had 2 Ral Zarek's because I think he's fun...but I just don't think he's good enough. Maybe I'll end up keeping 1 because in an odd way, he also helps get to 5 mana more consistently.

I'm a big fan of blue moon decks in modern right now, just maindecking straight up hate for pod/affinity (kind of)/tron/all the 3+ color decks is very fun for me. I also wanted to play a deck that can easily get to 2 red sources because delver/young pyromancer decks are so huge and will continue to be while cruise is still around (I also wanted to be playing blue so I can play cruise myself) because I'm interested in maindecking some number of volcanic fallout to just straight up hate them out as well (I'd like to maindeck 2, but at the time I write this I'm still having trouble deciding what slot the second one should take). Then I think I'll sideboard another 1 and also sideboard 2/3 anger of the gods, which is also very well positioned these days also (suck it even more pod!).

I'm a huge fan of vedalken shackles also (I don't really know if they're that well positioned right now, but they're just super fun, so that aspect of the deck will stay).

At the time of this writing, I'm still very unsure what the sideboard will be (I have a good idea of about half the slots, but we'll see where the rest lands). I gotta figure it out soon because the plan is to take this to a premeir modern IQ tomorrow. I'm exceedingly far from convinced that this deck is better than a more regular blue moon deck, but it is definitely much closer to a blue moon deck that I feel like I can enjoy playing more.

I've never really gotten many looks on this site, so it seems unlikely that anyone will see this in time to be able to help me, but it currently seems like the deck is really bad against burn decks (any of the less creaturey burn decks that is), and I'm just not certain exactly how to combat that in blue/red (I'll probably put some extra counters in the board to go against storm, which I also look pretty bad against mainboard, which can also come in against burn I guess, but not very efficiently), so if anyone has any suggestions of what I could/should do against burn (other than hope to draw a lot of spreading seas....I could I could sideboard a bunch of sea's claim for decks that don't really care about blood moon...i don't know), let me know.

Well, that's enough rambling. Let's get to it!

Well, I took this deck (the maindeck I think exactly as it was posted before I just changed it today) to the premier IQ. I went 5-3-1 (but this was literally without ever having played the deck against someone, so i think i could have at least gotten one more win with more experience with the deck). I went to time in the very last round to drop to 50th. Shucks. I've since taken variously modified versions to my local modern FNM a couple times, not doing anything amazing.

I've once again made some changes, and finally actually updated those changes on TappedOut. The next time I'm able...which I think won't be until next year...I'll take it to an FNM/tournament and try to remember to let you know how it goes. In the mean time, any suggestions (especially what to put in the sideboard instead of 2 Spreading Seas because, while I enjoy playing with that card, I don't think it's necessarily the best thing for me in that slot) will be given their due consideration and appreciation.
