My first attempt at a Black deck.

Destroy creatures either by trading, Disciple of Griselbrand, Altar's Reap, Bone Splinters or destroying them with your own spot removal to channel the power of their death into effects from the deck's many other cards.

Every single death on the field then powers the Life Gain/Drain engine Blood Artist holds, thus tipping the scales in your favor, even if it's your creatures dying. Moreover, destroying your own creatures with Disciple of Griselbrand brings even more life to your side of the Life Counter.

Tragic Slip, with creatures dying left and right, usually your own, by your own hand, no less, easily becomes instant removal against pretty much any creature for B.

Driver of the Dead serves as recursion for, say, a Blood Artist or Disciple of Griselbrand that the opponent might have done away with, when he dies, either by trading, or by one of the deck's nefarious sacrifice outlets.

Chalice of Life   , with all the life gain going on, quickly becomes Chalice of Death   , allowing you to cackle madly as you watch their life drop like a brick.

Black Cat and Night Terrors serve as a small amount of control.
