Mormeril's Burdens

Unknown

The_Last_Laugh

I know this won't make sense to a lot of people, but I made this deck for a friend of mine who plays a character called "TheGreyElf." I don't expect everybody to understand it, but theme is prized a bit more highly than the redundancy or power needed to ensure victory.

This deck represents the burdensome curse Mormeril (and his family) bears because of his Half-Sister. I have plenty of the Black-themed prideful elves from Lorwyn here to reflect the subtle twinges I frequently feel that members TheGreyElf's hubristic and exclusive prior society sicced a dangerous necromancer squarely on themselves. (YMMVdrastically)

At any rate, the themes of undeath, self-hatred, archery, and stealthy death are found here in droves, just like you would find speaking to him in person. Extremely difficult blocking requirements are how the deck is supposed to win. I tried to mimic Mormeril's origins in the gameplay, because if you want most of these Elves to serve you well, you are going to have to put some enchantments on them that they would likely not appreciate. The deck is composed of creatures that are not uber-powerful combatants, but are extremely sneaky and difficult to keep "off your property"--which is basically how I view the Elven approach to warfare.

A few cards in the deck speak to its namesake's own necromantic powers over the dead, gained at terribly high price.
