Well PartyJ, multani has shroud so only heroic intervention works. And I've thought about it befor. Plus seshiro_of_the_orochi, I've added Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma and took out Elemental Resonance . Storming off with lots of mana is pretty cool plus the added trample effect is good.

Why the Eldrazi Temple ? Am I missing some Eldrazis other than Artisan?

January 28, 2019 2:19 a.m.

griffstick says... #3

qwikster, the deck is old and it use to have 4 eldrazies in the deck, now its 2 eldrazies. Void Winnower and Artisan of Kozilek , both are good cards, and the Eldrazi Temple is a land that taps for 1 colorless (with no restricting cost) or 2 colorless (for eldrazies). Plus it's a land that comes in untapped, and has no downsides. Except for Caged Sun , but I don't always have caged sun. I also have Shrine of the Forsaken Gods . basically for the same reason but this works on more cards.

So however you want to look at it, it can be incidental ramp with no downside

I have 5 Forest , Shrine of the Forsaken Gods , and Eldrazi Temple . Boom! Artisan of Kozilek

Looks cool, a few suggestions: Gaea's Cradle & Earthcraft

If I ever get my hands on some next level shit like those cards I would not waste my time putting it in a deck like this. Lol good suggestions though. Just not gonna happen.

Love this deck, dude. So good!

If you did have that "next level shit" like cradle and earth craft, what would you add and what would you swap?

I'd add Eureka ($425) for sure, because it's so easy to to have 20+ cards in your hand.

Ooh! That'd be sick. Eureka, cradle, earth craft... anything else come to mind?

I'm mostly a legacy player so I have access to a lot of older cards, though I don't have a eureka :(

Solid build +1! Love how you went all in on this commander. I have a few suggestions to see what you think. Tireless Tracker , Mind's Eye , Runic Armasaur are solid cards that can fill your hand and boost you commander. Also being in mono green Seedborn Muse and Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger are awesome value creatures you could use. Also why are you using Eldrazi Temple ?

Hey there,

Lovely list and a great showcase game you played at MTG Muddstah! Kudos for rocking Multani for such a long time.

When browsing through your list, I noticed you omitted a few cards that I really enjoy in my list. I was wondering what your thoughts are on those, if you considered them and what made you leave them out in your build.

Cheers!

@TheCardPool, thank you I love this deck. It's so much fun. Most wins come from Akroma's Memorial , Genesis Wave , Overwhelming Stampede , and Triumph of the Hordes . But to be honest when I slam down an Akroma's Memorial and Selvala, Heart of the Wilds from a huge Genesis Wave with a fist full of cards. My inner timmy goes wild. So much fun.

No for your card suggestions. - Tireless Tracker is a good card but I don't think it's good here. If I was doing an artifact sub-theme or if I had a way to use those for mana or something then it's good but the investment of 2 mana per card is much worse then a Rishkar's Expertise . - Mind's Eye seems good especially when I got Font of Mythos or Howling Mine in play. I just don't think I have room for it. - Runic Armasaur , I like this card but is not gonna do anything half of the time. Its hit or miss. - Seedborn Muse another really good card but it's not gonna do anything in this build. - Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger is so good infact it's so good that I get the feel bads when I play it and nobody's doing anything because they skip their every other untap step. This card would be a good fit here in this deck if you are okay with people hating you for playing it.

I play Eldrazi Temple for the ramp for the 2 eldrazi spells in the deck as there is no drawback for playing it, it's an easy include.

@Beebles, all good suggestions.

Monstrous Onslaught , Fungal Sprouting , I would totally suggest to anyone building a deck with multani those cards as they are perfect fits in the deck.

Wolfcaller's Howl is good too but I'm not exactly going wide.

Grothama, All-Devouring is another good one I strongly considered putting into the deck. I still want to but I'm not sure.

Greater Good is awesome and I only have one problem with it. I would have to sac the creature. Still worth putting in but I just don't want to sacrifice multani.

Of the ones you mentioned I like the most. Castle Garenbrig and Return of the Wildspeaker are the 2 that are the easiest to put in the deck.

There's so much to talk about these cards you mentioned but I really don't want to spend all day typing out why I chose not to add them in my build.

I agree with your assessment of the above comments except for Greater Good .

  1. Synergy with Greenwarden of Murasa and Woodfall Primus
  2. Sac outlets prevent exile effects, useful for recursion
  3. Who doesn't like drawing 10 and discarding 3 from Artisan of Kozilek or just another fatty?

You should swap lignify with the new throne card that does something similar but draws you a card, can't recall at the moment.

Where is your recursion aside from greenwarden? I would add in Eternal Witness , Seasons Past and/or Praetor's Counsel . Perhaps you don't need it but I always find it useful. You don't have much to recur akroma's memorial. Buried Ruin and the above could help with that. That being said, I never played Multani so perhaps with all your card draw you don't need that much recursion.

griffstick says... #14

@Profet93, Praetor's Counsel is in the deck. And the last thing you said too. The deck is packed full of so much value creatures that draw is better than recurring a good creature. I like the idea off adding Eternal Witness since I can fetch it out with Woodland Bellower . Also Seasons Past was another one of those cards I strongly considered putting in the deck.

You make a case for Greater Good . I will see what cut to make for it. The problem is with that is there is some balance required between having enough scary creatures and resources for removal and resilience. Ohran Frostfang is a really good card and The Great Henge is too and I also need to find a spot for that as well

The point I'm saying is. It's getting real hard to choose what to cut for some of these cards. All while keeping that balance

Got you, I apologize as it's been a while and I comment on a few decks....

I would remove Burnished Heart. It costs 6 mana to be useful and you have much better ramp in green. Maybe even the constant mists and the manifest creature as they seem low impact.

October 6, 2019 12:01 a.m.

griffstick says... #16

SerraMeya that pretty good. Often times the fog effect 2 or 3 times is good enough. Currently Constant Mists is getting really close to the chopping block. But I don't think I need to add Drownyard Temple to make one card OP. Most of the time I have plenty of lands to sac to the mists.

Cool deck!

What do you normally cast Sculpting Steel on?

October 21, 2019 3:59 p.m.

griffstick says... #18

Usually what's best for me at the moment. I've copied Thran Dynamo and Caged Sun and Font of Mythos alot. Of other things to copy not in my deck, basically name it. I've copied Gilded Lotus and the swords Sword of Feast and Famine someone else's Caged Sun or Gauntlet of Power

I'm really liking this list and I think one card that would do wonders would be Kozilek, Butcher of Truth . It offers various benefits from the initial 4 card draw, is a suitable threat in it's own, and most importantly has the critical graveyard shuffle effect. It would indirectly strengthen card choices such as Greater Good . Drawing 11 from Kozilek w/ Greater Good seems out of control. Even things like shuffling back destroyed lands and drawing/playing them for the future turns further extends the Constant Mists window. Would love to hear your thoughts, I'm unsure if you ran any Eldrazi package beforehand but I noticed you had an Eldrazi Temple in there.

griffstick says... #20

@Savaaage, I do like the draw 4. Its really nice, and the big body with annihilator 4 is very strong. However at 10 cmc it's even harder to cast than Void Winnower (@9 cmc) and I don't think it's a better card than Void Winnower either. At 10 cmc the only card I could see taking out for it is Terastodon and that's also a really good card.

The last question you asked was if I use to run more eldrazi in the deck? I use to run 5 at the beginning. In this decks very early deck building stages I had all the low $ price tag eldrazies, and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger in the deck. I cut the eldrazies from the deck because they would just be dead in my hand for way to long. Having so many high cost cards was bad for the deck. So I cut all the ones that I thought had the lowest impact or sat in my hand way too long because of it's high cmc. Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger was the last one to get cut. And it was mostly in for its removal for why it was in the deck for so long. and it was pretty cool winning by exile of Library. But 10 cmc again was too much. I kept Void Winnower and Artisan of Kozilek because they did some really good things that mattered most to me. First Void Winnower , it creates good evasion for multani and makes it hard for your opponents to play their cards. and Artisan of Kozilek is important because it can cheat on mana cost on some very strong cards in the deck such as, Bane of Progress , Greenwarden of Murasa , Platinum Emperion , Terastodon , and Void Winnower just to name a few.

So having Eldrazi Temple in the deck prior to cutting all the eldrazi felt very important to the deck. It's much less important now, but there is only one very small draw back from playing this card and that's the interaction with Caged Sun (its not a forest). The land comes into play untapped and can tap for right away at no cost. And when I have an eldrazi it's even better. So it's no problem to throw in the deck for the chance that I can cast an eldrazi for less even if there's only 2 in the deck.

Well of Knowledge and Rites of Flourishing are odd cards I found worked well when I ran this guy as a commander. On the surface level, they reduce your threat level in multiplayer (after all, you're doing nice stuff for them, aren't you?), but in actuality, they're filling their hands out as fast as possible.

Dragon Fangs doesn't target on it's triggered ability, so once it's in the yard Multani will get trample each time he's cast.

standard staples for mindrazor decks apply, so Anvil of Bogardan, Horn of Greed, and Otherworld Atlas are also good options

January 24, 2020 10:27 a.m.

edit: just realized that you had Otherworld Atlas, I just missed it. Seasons Past?

Jungle Wayfinder, Ghirapur Orrery, and Weird Harvest aslo fit the aforementioned "helping" theme, and Sage of Ancient Lore  Flip acts as an anti-control card that doubles as a backup general.

This deck looks great! One suggestion: switch Eldrazi Temple out for Buried Ruin. You only have one eldrazi, and it doesn’t require colorless mana, so Eldrazi Temple essentially says T: Add 1 colorless.

July 14, 2020 5:33 p.m.

Might I suggest Shared Summons? It's a powerful creature tutor and is even hand positive. Also, as you're already considering Grothama, how about Nessian Boar and Treeshaker Chimera?
