Ms.Gass, Primed and Ready
Welcome to my Cloney Zegana GU EDH Sheninagans. Drawing cards is my favortie thing to do, and Simic is my favorite color combination. If we further combine that with Prime Speaker Zegana being my very first ever Mythic and Legendary, this deck was simply a match made in heaven! Zegana naturally draws tons of cards, allowing us to have a ton of gass at the ready from our command zone. I always enjoy building my decks around my commander, and Zegana is one who very much lends herself to a buildaround.
The Gameplan
The gameplan is fairly simple: we look to ramp as fast as possible to 6 mana. Afterwards, we want to drop down Prime Speaker Zegana and get our draw going. How many cards we get out of her enter the battlefield (henceforth ETB) effect will depend on what we got going, but drawing even two cards is good enough to start of. However, though it is okay to only draw a few cards on the first go around, we are not just gonna stop there. We are in the buisness of drawing way more than just a paltry 2-8 cards! But how do we draw even more cards you may ask?
How to Get All Dem Draws!
I got you covered. Our primary way of getting more draws is by cloning Zegana, giving us another often cheaper trigger to draw of off. It is important to make sure we always sacc the orginal Zegana, as this allows us to recast her later if the board gets wiped, or we have no other ways to trigger her ETB. One of two standout clones is Progenitor Mimic which, after saccing the orginal Zegana, will get us a new ETB trigger every upkeep, drawing us an absurd amount of cards even before we draw for turn. The other one, Altered Ego, can enter with additonal counters if it copies Zegana by paying extra, allowing for additonal draws. Both are also searchable with
Green Sun zenith
, allowing them to come down very easily.
If we are not cloning, blinking is another solid way to do it. We have Conjurer's Closet, Deadeye Navigator and Ghostly Flicker as the main ways of doing this. Deadeye Navigator is particulary disgusting, allowing for easy ETB triggers and likely a win if it survives till our next turn.
Bouncing her back to your hand is our third method. Currently, I only have Temur Sabertooth to do this in the deck, as it is a very slow way to get more ETB triggers from Zegana. He is included since Temur Sabertooth combines bounce with a body and protection, allowing him to be a bit more proactive than other cards with similar effects.
Finally, we also have cards to double her ETB trigger when we cast her. Doubling Season doubles the counters she enters with, and Panharmonicon doubles the draw trigger in general, making sure that the amount of cards we draw is always absurd! Be extreemly careful though, it is easy to deck onesself out with one of these in play, since Zegana's draw ability is a forced draw.
Winconditions
Once we have our draw engine online, it is all about finding a way to win with the absurd amount of options we now have availble. The main ways I have included are Psychosis Crawler, Biovisonary + Rite of Replication, Palinchron combos and Doubling Season + Jace, Cunning Castaway
. The Psychosis Crawler route is the most thematic with the decks theme, and is supposed to be the intended way of winning most of the time. He is also a juicy power target when your hand is decently big, lending himself nicely to blowing people out when things are going our way. The biovisonary route is full on jank that is mostly intended to come about as a result of infinte mana with Palinchron (which I will detail shortly) in some fashion, though sometimes we will have enough mana to hard cast Rite of Replication on him. I use it simply for style, because it is much cooler way to win than with Laboratory Maniac. Addiotnally, when the moon is blue, we will miraculously clone him four times for a win, which I am really hoping will happen one day! The third route is the more ''boring'' one, which is Palinchron with either Deadeye Navigator, Phantasmal Image or Zendikar Resurgent. With Deadeye Navigator, you win on the spot, as with the infinte mana and blinks, you can blink Zegana to draw your entire library right away and just choose how you want to win. Phantasmal Image and Zendikar Resurgent requires you to have something to work with in your hand or field, but the win is usally not far off when you get infinte mana. For the fourth route we have another jank win condition. With Doubling Season in play, Jace, Cunning Castaway is able to make infinte clones of himself with his ult thanks to him entering with twice the amount of loyalty counters. This, in turn, nets us an infinte amount of 2/2 illusion tokens. It is, funnily enough, a somewhat resilient combo, only being stopped by a Cyclonic Rift or a full nonland wipe like Hour of Revelation. If you want, the inclusion of Concordant Crossroads would make this win on the spot alot of the time, but it is a rather expensive and niche option for the deck.
Thank you for reading and viewing my decklist :D! If you know some fun/efficent cards, feel free to suggest them ;).
