[MUC] Mean Blue Control [MUC]

Casual Control Cruel Control

florax

So, this is my blue control deck that I play against my friends.

Like any common blue control deck, I play staples like Brainstorm, Counterspell, and Daze.

However, the basic idea was playing Vedalken Shackles to completely control my enemy's creatures. But unfortunately, the decks in my playgroup became much faster in the last years and some of my friends started playing combo, so I needed a better defence against that.

With Innistrad, Unburial Rites brought the solution.Casting Gifts Ungiven, I'm going to search for either Iona, Shield of Emeria against any mono colored decks as well as decks that have their removal in only one color, against control Inkwell Leviathan and finally against any grean/red aggro, goblin, brun decks Sphinx of the Steel Wind.

It works by the fact that one does not neccesarily need to find 4 cards with Gifts Ungiven. So, i search for one of those 3 threats plus my only copy of Unburial Rites. The opponent still has to put exactly 2 cards in my graveyard and next turn, im gonna reanimate my finisher.

If you wondered about the name, this is where he comes form, because its just mean to cast Iona on your 5th turn;)

Finally, I'm gonna get a copy of Academy Ruins to be able to find a Vedalken Shackles with the Gifts Ungiven if need be.

If anyone has suggestions on how to abuse the power of Gifts Ungiven besides my reanimation plan, your welcome:)
