I wanted a bit of a restriction and challenge when making my next EDH Deck. This deck has a lot of power behind it. Kozilek, the Great Distortion is vastly underrated in most playgroups/metas. With the right build and CMC curve, it can shut down opponents. It is everything you want in a General to close out games: 1) Evasion, 2) Protection, 3) Card Draw, and 4) Closes out games quickly.

The goal is to ramp and play out your hand to get the most value from casting your Kozilek. However, sometimes it is ideal to keep certain spells/cards in hand when you cast him to ensure you have something to counter a Swords to Plowshares, just for example. Read your opponents, plan ahead, and figure out what cards can ruin your plans.

Lock Down/Out:

Karn, the Great Creator+Mycosynth Lattice = your opponents cannot cast spells. They have to remove Karn first by attacking. If you get the right boardstate, it ends games because they may not be able to attack profitably into Karn. Karn, Silver Golem's activated ability works very well with Lattice because you just pay 1 mana to destroy a land.

Darksteel Forge+Mycosynth Lattice+Nevinyrral's Disk = blow up all opposing permanents.

Total Board Lock:

Karn, the Great Creator+Mycosynth Lattice+Glacial Chasm+Crucible of Worlds = Opponents cannot cast spells, activate abilities or attack with creatures. This is an absolute hard lock and yes I know you have to sacrifice a land every time it enters the field, but we can manage that for a while until we get our deck into full steam ahead with Planar Bridge+Rings of Brighthearth and then go off with even more tutoring with Kuldotha Forgemaster. Now if somehow they have something out that shuts down recurring Glacial Chasm, then we eat the life loss until we can either gain enough life to outlast the life loss, or until we find an answer to whatever is shutting down our graveyard.

I used to play Perilous Vault but I found that I was not casting it or using it all that often. If I was, it was very early in the game, when I had nothing on board and I would find myself playing around my own Vault. So Disk gets the place due to the synergy it has and highly usability with my protection.

I know that Nevinyrral's Disk does not get rid of Avacyn or Opponents' indestructible Eldrazi or Darksteel Forge or etc...But I have other cards that can manage that. Ugin, the Spirit Dragon or All Is Dust can work well against colored permanents granting indestructibility. Karn Liberated and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger can take care of any permanent that grants indestructible and Titan's Presence and Duplicant can take care of most creatures that have indestructible. Warping Wail has its time in the sun as well.
