Sideboard

This started out as a bounce drain deck with win conditions like Inkwell Leviathan drops on turn 3-4. Turned out to be too slow and mana intensive, and too easily disrupted. The deck has since moved to some creatures slightly easier to deal with, but more threatening, while not being 100% reliant on master transmuter living, even though she has counter protection.

A friend of mine who is much more versed on Modern told me it's like "Mud in Modern," hence the title, but I'm not sure if the name still fits.

(Stuff, just for Morgan)

This deck can turn 3 with a perfect draw, but it more often turn 4-5s with protection. The main key is getting a master transmuter to stick and not die immediately. If you can't get that to happen you can usually last long enough, against the decks that prevent cast, to drop a wurmcoil or sunder hardcast; the sculptors help a ton with hardcasting.

Ideal play:T1: Island, Mox OpalT2: Darksteel Citadel, Etherium Sculptor (Metalcraft Opal), Lightning Greaves for 1.T3: Island, Master Transmuter, not countered? Equip Lightning Greaves, not response bolt/path? Tap Opal for Blue, Master Trans Opal into hand, Blightsteel Colossus into play, replay Opal, equip greaves to Blightsteel, swing 11 infect trample.

If there is interruption hopefully you have a snare/pierce to prevent bolt/path/snap/remand/leak with your 1 extra mana and you still sit with a greaves upped master trans to win t4. Everything functions the same throughout the game, dig with sleight/serum or fabricate to acquire what is best for the situation.

What works really well, and is highly enjoyable I might add, is leaving Master Transmuter open and essentially flashing in something on turn exchange, or waiting for them to use removal (ie: Karn/bolt/path/etc.) and bouncing the master trans itself, or the target. This is even better if you're holding spine, ex: Bolt your master trans? K, put it back in my hand, put spine into play kill your x. Or just bouncing it so the spell misses is fine as well.
