Oddly we deck cycled around the same time and my zombie deck was one above yours focuses on instants and sorceries instead of permanents lol

Yeah, there is a ton of ways to build a zombie tribal deck now

I'm very happy to see Tormod, the Desecrator in here! He is one of my favourite cards from that set. I have him in two different zombie decks (one of which he is a partner commander) because I love his effect so much.

There are a few other things that will give you bonuses for removing things from your graveyard. I'm not sure how much they fit your theme, but Syr Konrad, the Grim is fun for the ping damage, and Desecrated Tomb gives you bats!

If you do end up including these, I would definitely recommend Zombie Apocalypse too for the combos you could get off.

This looks like a fun deck, either way. Good job!

Thanks for the feedback! You are right that those do not fit the theme of the deck right now. However, I will keep those in mind if the deck shifts towards a combo-style deck in the future. If you have anymore suggestions, please feel free to comment.

I also have a zombie tribal deck that I just tuned a bit with some newer/better cards. I run Varina, Lich Queen as the commander. Shes worked out fantastically for me as the perfect synergy piece to get tons of stuff in the yard. I also have a muldrotha deck funnily enough, so I know she makes for a good zombie commander. Is there a reason you chose muldrotha, an elemenal, over varina out of curiosity? The allure of green ramp is understandable.

It was mostly the colors and ability. Being able to recur Rooftop Storm when it is destroyed is nice.

Phyrexian Atar, Gravecrawler, and Rooftop Strom gives you infinite mana.

Yes, and I was going to put it in there. However, it seems I don't have any copies at the moment. If I do acquire a copy, you bet it is going in here!

Nice to see another deck with Muldrotha, the Gravetide and zombie tribal. Im also rebuilding my deck with the new cards from Midnight Hunt. Why are you using Acererak the Archlich in this deck? Thought about it, but in every test, he was to slow to benefit from his abilities. Did you tought about less sorcery and instant spells to use Muldrotha, the Gravetide abilities? For example, you can switch Hero's Downfall with Attrition. Nearly same usecase but you can recast Attrition from your graveyard with Muldrotha, the Gravetide. Nice deck, i like it! :D

Thanks, glad to hear. Muldrotha just fuels what zombies want to do. Acererak is an infinite combo with Rooftop Storm, one of the dungeons drain your opponents. And yes, I have thought about reducing the instants and sorceries in the deck, but having some interaction is important. I may try Attrition, but the fact it doesn't hit black creatures makes it kind of problematic as black is a popular color in Commander. But, I am definitely looking at getting more permanents in here.

I like your deck! I’ve been planning a Muldrotha deck and have a solid zombie base just sitting around. Inspirational.

I found Ghoul's Night Out pretty awesome. 4 Creatures for 5 Mana. they are decayed, true, but if you recurse utility pieces (e.g. Consecrated Sphinx) this card will be insane!

Hi Housegheist! Thanks for the suggestion! I did see that card and through testing don't like Ghoulcaller's Harvest, because of the decayed part of it. I may try that out in its place. Thanks!

NinjaBunny01 says... #18

Thanks for the suggestion SteffisPeppis! I had it in there for some time but took it out for other cards. I am planning on adding in Necroduality into the deck, which is an alternative to that that is less mana value and does basically the same thing. I do need to get this list updated. I will be working on that here soon.

Housegheist says... #19

Necroduality is a straight upgrade than Reflections… reflections triggers on cast while Necro on ETB… so your Graveyard shenanigangs are doubled up!

Any thoughts on Master of Death or Plague Belcher?

June 24, 2022 9:12 a.m.

NinjaBunny01 says... #24

Master of Death is an interesting one and I may give it a try in the deck. Plague Belcher was in and never felt all that useful. It sort of felt like a hindrance with the 2 -1/-1 counters it gives. I may rework it back in as it does have combo potential. We will see as I play the deck more. Thanks for the suggestions!

Housegheist says... #25

I like Plague Belcher at wordt it‘s a 3/2 with a relevant death-trigger which diesn‘t care if it‘s a token or not. Best case, you put the counters on a token, who dies and triggers the belcher
