Modern Esper Artifacts

Here I will take advantage of the versatility of artifacts combined with powerful Black and White spells. I will try to win by attacking with elusive creatures with high offensive presence

This is the latest paper version of my ol' reliable Artifact deck. It has been revised on multiple occasions but I think I managed a very interesting and consistent build this time. I have much affinity for it (pun intended) and I hope you will as well. Give it a +1 if you like it!

With introductions out of the way, let's break down the deck list:

Main Combo:

With just these 3 artifacts in play, I can have a 8/5 creature with Protection from all colors. With more artifacts on the board, the Champion will only get stronger

Creatures:

  • Etched Champion is protected from most interactions and permanents, making it a safe investment
  • Vault Skirge is a nice dodgy creature with Lifelink that has, can and will win matches on its own
  • Signal Pest is cheap, elusive and fortifies fellow attackers with Battle Cry
  • Esper Sentinel is a great 1-drop that will most likely draw me extra cards
  • Etherium Sculptor reduces the mana costs of my artifacts
  • Thought Monitor is a flyer that provides hand refueling

Non-creature spells:

Sideboard and Alternate Deck Variant:

This deck can also work with Master of Etherium instead of Etched Champion, especially against Artifacts or other colorless creatures like Eldrazi. This switch gives more immediate board presence but makes the deck more susceptible to removal and blocking.

For this reason I also throw in 2x Shadowspear for 2x Tempered Steel when running this version, so Master of Etherium, Nettlecyst and Urza's Saga's Constructs can Trample through blockers and give me plenty of Life back, while having the option of negating opposing Hexproof and Indestructible. On top of that, Shadowspear can be used on its own for its Lifelink and/or when I'm fighting other flyers for its Trample
