Braids, Cabal Minion is banned in commander

That's why she's in the Sideboard. Most playgroups don't have a problem with her, because EDH bans aren't well thought out. If you have a group that is cool with it, switch her for Magus.

Oh, you play this deck casually. I'd hate to see your playgroup's decklists haha

Hi. I've been working with my Nath stax build for a about a year now. With the token generation and mana dorks I've fount that diabolic intent works well. Also i have a small birthing pod engine with dorks and tokens to attrition answers and speed up wins. Usually goes token>dork>bloodghast>3cmc utility(e-wit etc...)>braids and a copy of entomb is pretty good with bloodghast/crucible/reanimation. All builds vary by preference and meta. Anyways i borrowed an idea of two from you and thanks for the great primer!

I'm glad you've found the primer helpful! I cut Bloodghast because it couldn't he a stax effect on its own. Pod doesn't have many worth while targets since I can't run Braids 100% of the time. Diabolic intent is something I want to text, I just haven't found a copy at any of my lgs. I've thought about entomb, I feel it may have a spot, I just need to figure out if it's better than the other cards in the list.

I like pod. Its literally the most versatile card in my build. Bloodghast is really only there for pod honestly and . Idk about entomb in your build tho. Your only targets are dependant on other cards (ex. Creature w/ volraths or land for crucible). I tried genesis and loam. Both are way too slow. Is there a reason you don't run any cheap reanimation (ex. Animate Dead)

They're just goodstuff, I don't have any reanimation targets and my meta has been fairly creature light. I don't want irrelevant and or dead cards gumming up my hands.

Sorry endstep. My phone went crazy. It put my first comment in front of the new one.

No worries man, I run both in my actual list, this one hasn't been updated yet. Deluge kills Hatebears, which are the only creatures I usually have to worry about from my opponents. Hence my preference.

Would the new kalitas be good for this build

I suppose Toxic Deluge would get under Gaddock Teeg and annoying friends. Im working with that pod chain more. I need a great 6cmc guy after Sadistic Hypnotist makes my friends cry. Either something staxy and/or greensun-able. Perhaps the newer ob_nixilis for extra punishment? How has massacre wurm tested for you endstep?

Haven't tried Wurm yet. Torpor orb is in atm. If I were looking for a 6 drop I'd consider Grave Titan

He is a heavy contender. It just feels like all the options are winmore. I wanna pull situational cards like animate dead but I'm always happy to see them. As you can tell our builds and metas are quite different. Whats your reason for not running abrupt decay? You like grip better? I'm on both cuz every one had mana rocks and we have contamination/winterorb/desolation/infernaldarknessNothing is worse than your lock being ignored by a player with a signet and a force of will lol

I've cut a bunch of the spot removal, I was noticing it would gum up openers and often just get pitched to Lilly. Since I have a decent number of ways to get null rod, other players rocks don't scare me as much as you'd think.

deadcolossus says... #16

Good point. I have dissapointed quite a few tables with null rod. Have you ever considered Static Orb? Then when other people get bouncy lands, cradle, etc. you haves strip mine/wasteland

February 16, 2016 2:42 p.m.

EndStepTop says... #17

Static orb is a fine card, I haven't had space for it in the list in a long time.

February 16, 2016 11 p.m.

deadcolossus says... #18

Honestly i never even ran Tangle Wire. Is it all that and a bag of chips? Static Orb is neat tho, in my experience it functions as a combined Winter Orb + Null Rod

February 18, 2016 12:31 p.m.

EndStepTop says... #19

Tangle wire is SAVAGE. Ive simply played a t2 bitterblossom and t3 tangle wire, and lock my opponents out of the game for ~3 turns, I was sceptical at first but the card is straight gas. I like static orb, but like I said I can just never find a spot. Its not high priority because the deck lacks ways to play around it well.

deadcolossus says... #20

True. We play around most off our own stax effects. My group is getting hip to our and started playing mana dorks like us. I have flashbag marauder who can be tutored/podded but im not sure if thats enough. Do we have some sort of Orzhov Pontiff in Golgari? Or a Curse of Death's Hold that's actually on curve?

February 18, 2016 6:01 p.m.

EndStepTop says... #21

I was struggling with the same thing, atm the best answer I'm thinking of is massacre wurm. Our current option is bury their dorks under abyss/grave pact effects.

I played against a ghave player who landed early tokens and a Black Market. It did not end well. I was considering running one myself.

there is a new card coming out called tooth collector. it is sorta like Orzhov Pontiff. You can find the info here here, I haven't looked at it that closely. there is also Minister of Pain from dragons of tarkir.

February 19, 2016 12:25 p.m.

deadcolossus says... #24

Great suggestions weirdhat! That tooth collector pretty much is a stax-ish tarmogoyf that's on curve with Fleshbag Marauder. We can bin fetch lands and creatures but hitting 4 types isn't easy. At least it has a etb trigger and that's kind of a nonbo with torpor orb. Still seems worthy of testing

Orc Sureshot looks like a similar effect, that scales with Nath/Discard.
