Very often am I (and the rest of the table). Sylvan Library/ top let me make use of it by floating cards until I need them (like when I play miracles!).

Gspot: I really love this list, very thought out. Stax is the only archetype I play. Thank you for listing! Definitely going to build a Duel Commander Version of this one. Cheers -Clayton

Thanks a bunch man! I've put off making a Duel Commander list for a long time now. I can't wait to Dee how it comes out.

Have you ever considered Root Maze. Its more of pseudo stax but i still think its cool.

Kind of, it seems cool bit given the current build, Static Orb would be stronger. Not that root maze doesn't have a place, Derevi has super bird-lady-chub over it... Nath not so much.

Oh look, the least fun deck to play against I have ever seen! +1.. or do I mean -1?

Just curious, how does the deck handle itself against really high power combo decks? Sharuum the Hegemon or Animar, Soul of Elements for example? I like the concept a lot because I enjoy stax decks, but it seems like your turn by turn explanation doesn't handle something that can combo off turn 2 or 3 on a consistent basis.

Null Rod ruins the ramp Sharuum runs and lets me more or less do my thing. I have yet to play against an Animar list, a quick contamination would shut them off then just land an Abyss-eque effect to kill off dorks/Animar.

Well Null Rod is annoying but it's also almost certainly worth the FoW that every good Sharuum combo deck will be running, and Contamination is a good card but it still seems like from your description up there, that even if you mulligan down to say 5 cards, a tutor mana source etc, if you're only playing it turn 3 or 4 it's too late?

It could be? Cards like Tangle Wire can shut down the table for 2/3 turns, letting me safely stax up. Sometimes simply dropping a Smallpox puts the board back enough to let me cast my stax effects.

I don't always +1 decks, but when I do, it's for fucking neat ass decks like this.

Isn't Braids, Cabal Minion banned? Any recommendations on a replacement? I'm looking to play this deck competitively.
April 24, 2015 9:43 a.m.
Braids is banned in the suggested ban list. Our playgroup thinks Sheldon can stick the ban list up his butt and leave it there - we play real magic.
I think he replaces Braids with a Barter in Blood? For a while he was joking about adding Ritual of Subdual...

Personally I'd use a Chains of Mephistopheles as an appropriate replacement.

Ritual was in, and is probably the best card to replace in the list of you want to play it. Chains will go in when my one man make escort business takes off.

I should add that braids physically is replaced by magus, but I have yet to meet some who gives a shit in a long time.

That makes sense. With all of the globalb discard effects, do you find yourself top-decking much btw?
