This is the definition of speed! I would love to give suggestions, but as a newer player, there is not much I can offer for a Modern deck, there is just so many cards to keep up with! A +1 will have to do. Fast decks are some of my favorite.

I don't know why you aren't running Lightning Bolt over Shock or Lava Spike . It's at instant speed and can hit creatures or players.
Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle could be a 2 of, due to turning Mountains into burn. Another good nonbasic is Teetering Peaks .
Hellraiser Goblin is risky, but may be worth it.
Curse of Stalked Prey should be good because you're creature heavy. In that vein, Falkenrath Exterminator , Erdwal Ripper , and/or Slith Firewalker are also options.
Goblin Guide is great. Rakdos Cackler is also great. Vexing Devil is even better.
Thunderous Wrath , Grim Lavamancer , Magma Jet , and Keldon Marauders are personal favorites.
If you plan to build a sideboard, Skullcrack , Sowing Salt , Smash to Smithereens , Combust , Leyline of Punishment , and Blood Moon are all good options.
I like this deck, especially Cosmic Larva . +1

I'm liking plenty of your suggestions, and in fact, the way I implemented some of them kept the deck below the budget line when I thought it would go over.
I'm iffy about Goblin Guide and Vexing Devil because, while they're fantastic cards, they cost an arm and a leg compared to the modest budget I have here. Same for Grim Lavamancer .
I don't want to put in more things like Stromkirk Noble , so I simply put in 2x Curse of Stalked Prey while taking out a Noble and a Furnace Scamp , which I feel works well.
Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle gets its place, though it'd require late-game stuff, and this deck isn't too well crafted for the late-game battles. I still like what Valakut does, it burns plenty.
Thanks for the suggestions!

hmm I'd change out the Gore-House Chainwalker for a Hellspark Elemental

I definitely have switched out Gore-House Chainwalker for Hellspark Elemental . It speeds the deck up a ton, what with haste and unearth. Thanks for the suggestion!

I know it's incredible slow with this deck, but I saw this and thought of Cerebral Eruption . Sadly, it would slow your deck up a tonne, but it's always an interesting card

personally i would replace the curse with Armed / Dangerous for the suprise your dead! thing

Armed / Dangerous scores its place. I like Cerebral Eruption a lot, but there's definitely that slowdown factor. Definitely a consideration, though, seeing as it's a potential board wipe in a can.

I'm loving this. Started my mtg career on mono red burn. This isn't that, but still great fun on a budget!

I'd suggest replacing Messenger's Speed with Stormblood Berserker . Fast, evasive, and great damage-to-mana cost ratio. I don't really see what Messenger's Speed is doing for you. Double Cleave or Assault Strobe would serve as better versions of Armed / Dangerous .
February 28, 2014 7:10 p.m.
As for the previously suggested Cerebral Eruption , you probably won't ever be hitting for more than 1 damage, and at that point you might as well go for Electrickery or something faster like that.

I'm loving these suggestions, they're making the deck better.
As for early-game boardwipe such as Electrickery , I feel that I don't need it because the goal is to smash through before opponents can get on their feet.
Assault Strobe and Stormblood Berserker are now part of the deck, with a playset of Assault Strobe and 2 of Stormblood Berserker . Assault Strobe is super-useful, and Stormblood Berserker is great for punching face.
February 28, 2014 7:57 p.m.
I didn't think that Electrickery would really be good, just better than Cerebral Eruption .
A couple of curve-topper Pyreheart Wolf s might be good to make your whole team essentially unblockable. Or, Goblin Wardriver or Signal Pest could boost them a ton.

Yup, Signal Pest it is. I shaved off Stromkirk Noble in its entirety seeing as he was only good for garnering +1/+1 counters, and he's easily removable. Signal Pest can easily help with beefing up Hellspark Elemental and Spark Elemental for the short time they're on the field.

Nice deck. Constructing something that is cheap yet effective can be a real challenge. Well done. +1 from me. More if I could.

Suggest that you replace Fireshrieker , as earliest it's a turn 4 double strike. Madcap Skills would be beneficial as it's a lot quicker and almost guarantees damage. Might be something similar better, but I'm also new and don't know much of the modern powercards.
Nice deck, +1!

I'm definitely liking Madcap Skills . Out with Fireshrieker , I say! Thanks for the input! :)
March 3, 2014 3:48 p.m.
I feel like Pyroclasm is a bad idea here. It's a card engineered to punish this sort of deck. Only your Cosmic Larva will actually be able to survive it. I feel like either a one-sided board sweeper (like Scouring Sands ), targeted removal (like Lightning Bolt ), or something that's both (like Mizzium Mortars ) would be better.
March 3, 2014 5:19 p.m.
Whoops, you already have Lightning Bolt . Maybe Incinerate or Magma Jet ? Those are probably better than Mortars because they can also chew up those last few life points.
March 3, 2014 5:20 p.m.
JimothyCrikkett says... #22
Incinerate it is. Even more creature/player damage? I'll have it!
March 3, 2014 7:06 p.m.
Cosmic Larva work better with haste i believe since you may have this kind of hitters if you use Mass Hysteria you should still keep the afvantage maybe 2off should be good Regathan Firecat

I feel that this deck is at a crossroads: go deeper into Legacy or go into Modern. I would advise Modern, because there's less Force of Will .
Keldon Marauders is still a good card, and is better with haste. Have you found Archetype of Aggression to be useful? Madcap Skills might be better because of the damage and psuedounblockable. I would also swap 2x Mugging for 2x Assault Strobe for moar damage. In my sligh deck, I run Lightning Mauler over Mass Hysteria to have an extra creature and give a boost only to my creatures that need it.
If you do want to play Legacy, Fireblast , Sulfuric Vortex , Flame Rift , Price of Progress , and Chain Lightning are all good choices. Except Chain Lightning is expensive, holy crap.
March 9, 2014 7:14 p.m.
+1 from me, need to tweak it a litle more, but like it still
ChiefBell says... #1
Because this is more based on creatures than spells it's hard to call it a burn deck. It's actually what's called a 'Sligh' deck.
