I actually went 3-0 against those two decks on Friday (2-0, then 2-1 v Esper, with 2-1 over Orzhov between).
Esper seems like a scary matchup on paper, but I'm not too worried about MBD or Orzhov since Cyclonic Rift
destroys Pack Rat
and I can outrace them fairly easily, Blood Baron of Vizkopa
is utterly useless, Desecration Demon
gets locked down by dorks, and their removal is generally depleted once I get in my first bout of card advantage.
Against Esper, Prophet of Kruphix was a star, as I was able to avoid painful Supreme Verdict s by holding onto my fatties until their end step. And Cyclonic Rift is surprisingly useful as well for bouncing multiple Detention Sphere s and resetting Elspeth, Sun's Champion and her tokens. But of course, Garruk, Caller of Beasts is the real breadwinner in that matchup. I also did put in 2x AEtherling and forgot to put that on here, and of course that does work once it resolves.
The only thing I might consider would be changing out Essence Scatter with a regular hard counter so I could stop Sphinx's Revelation . It's been very useful against Lifebane Zombie , Gray Merchant of Asphodel , Fanatic of Mogis , and Stormbreath Dragon , so I don't want to go with something like Negate . Perhaps Syncopate since it's not double-Blue like Dissolve .

With mono blue falling out of favor, what could be changed to better deal with an increase in esper control and b/w midrange?
