cutthroat_x Yeah the flashback mechanic is definitely great alongside myth. Though the effect becomes a bit too narrow in this configuration.

Tomazinhal You have? Hope that you've found it useful even though the updates are slow. Also, sorry for the messy layout recently - some site updates ruined the setup.

I actually thought about it today. It's an interesting suggestion, but it requires lots of cuts in order to be utilized properly. The list might still be strong, but it would be a different one to test. I don't think I'll take it that direction.

Well, great minds think alike ehehe.
I don't find the layout messy, and I love looking at your list and reading your primer, it's so backed up with information that I can use and I've based my list off of yours, but I think mine will be lacking due to being Jeskai.
Since you've been with this list for quite some time would you be able to tell me your thoughts about splashing red and the archetype it would be most comfortable with? (Meaning Myth Realized).
Also, do you T1 Colonnade of Myth if you have both?

Tomazinhal Indeed! Great, glad it can be useful to others.

Sure. Firstly I think it's important to realize that Myth Realized isn't an aggro card, also you shouldn't be building around it too heavily. It's there mainly to amplify your game plan. Once you start building to protect it you put too many eggs in one basket.

I'm playing UW mainly because that's what I like to play, but there definitely are strong options to be explored - and I'm glad others want to test them! What red will add to the strategy is reach, which can be really advantageous. In this kind of shell the full playset of Snapcaster Mage would be desired and a one of Boros Charm could be clutch. Normally Jeskai / UWR would play Restoration Angel and Wall of Omens, but I'm not sure you would want this alongside Myth. However Electrolyze, Keranos, God of Storms, Lightning Helix and Izzet Charm seems to be good cards to include, and I would try to keep the two Think Twice for value and sweepers to compensate for the lack of creatures. Bottom line it I think the standard UWR Control lists with Myth would be interesting.

Great that you brought that question up as it's something I will discuss somewhere in the primer! It's a though decision and I'm not entirely sure what's the best line is. This part of the reason why I like the three Spell Snares as it allows a t1 Colonnade into a t2 Myth snare backup. There is no real answer here as each hand will be different, but in general I would prioritize to lead with Myth whenever possible. If you don't have much action in your hand the t1 Colonnade might be the play - honestly hard to know for sure I guess you just need to learn by experience.

fantastic deck! myth realized is a great card. i would suggest siding in a bit of yard hate however, since i've noticed this deck is weak against dredgevine-ish style decks.

lordAKU Thanks - yeah I believe so!

That might be a consideration - I haven't pitched the deck against those archetypes as of yet. Some suggested Surgical Extraction over at Reddit, and I might try a copy of that in the side. Problem is that cards like Rest in Piece hits me as well, I'll think about it!

np, Surgical Extraction and Bojuka Bog would be my top suggestions. the bog is particularly good because it can be mainboarded with little loss of slot space and if paired with Deprive can be reuseable

Awesome deck. Maybe needs a card to handle Bitterblossom otherwise plays out fantastically

Thanks AlexoBn, it does - quite pleased with the deck flows.

Regarding your suggestions;

  1. I'm not sure how much of a problem Bitterblossom would be. There's a reason why I run three Spell Snares - to combat two drops like BB, Goyf, Virtue etc. A quite common play from my side is t1 colonnade, and t2 Myth Realized + Snare / Path / Visions. Which decks runs BB these days - tokens?

  2. Personally I won't transition into red, but others are free to test the list with deeper color pairings. My heart lies with UW or Esper so red won't happen - unless I change my preferences. That being said, read has a lot to offer - mainly the reach & flexibility Lightning Bolt provides.

However vanilla creatures aren't that much of an issue for me due to lingering souls and four sweepers pre sideboard.

What do you think about running a Sun Titan as a one of? I like the idea of this deck.

January 26, 2016 4:50 p.m.

Spotred says... #15

Ghosthunter39 I've thought about it. But to be honest Titan doesn't suite this shell as well as the UW midrange builds with finks. MC runs a high spell count, and there's few good targets for the etb effect. I think it's better for the list to stay a bit lower to the ground than to utilize haymakers like Sphinx's Rev, Sun Titan, Elspeth, Sun C etc. However, I might give it a retry sometime, as it's a good card with an unique effect.

I was just thinking because he would grab all your non instants and sorceries.

Ghosthunter39 indeed. The reason why I considered him at one point was because he can recur Ghost Quarter, which is valuable it the hard matchups. Myth itself isn't an amazing target, but there are some options - which you point out. If I were to test him he had to replace either Truths, Cryptic or Gideon in the side.

I think dropping a couple cards from the sideboard for a few more Detention Sphere's may be a good idea considering all of the Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hungers running around.

Spotred says... #20

jamesfiek maybe. Decay is definitely not going to up-tic anytime soon with Twin gone. The Shadow in the SB could probably be replaced by Sphere or something like Purge or Dispel - depending on the meta.

I admire your build of u/w control. +1 from me. However, I'd like to know your match up against eldrazi aggro, since it's a big power player in the meta currently.

Sinist3r glad you liked it! I really enjoy how it plays.

The Eldrazi matchup is something I've stalled my testing against until I had a better list to test against. Now that the meta has shaped itself a bit I'll probably going to test against the Colorless version with Chalice main.

That being said I've already done some changes to combat the, with the three main board Spreading Seas instead of the counter spell package. The card is good in the meta, and the fact that it draws a card helps us a ton - fueling myth and digs for Souls, Verdict & Cruptic.

I anticipate that the matchup will be about fifty fifty. Chalice on one sucks, but if that doesn't hit the table I think the deck has the tools to beat them. Souls and Sweepers are great in the matchup I would believe. The sideboard also needs some tuning, but here Worship & Ghostly Prision is added with the mu in mind. I'm looking at maybe replacing the Avens and one Stony.

Sinist3r says... #23

I've seen use of Painter's Servant to combat the eldrazi problem, it could be helpful in allowing your spirits to always trade with Eldrazi Mimic and servant beats out the mimics as a blocker. However, if you don't feel like dedicating 2 sb slots to combat only eldrazi it's understandable.

Sinist3r yeah I've seen the tech. It's a solid hate card versus them, but it's narrow. I'm going to test Surgical extraction (replacing Mindcensor) & Baneslayer (replacing a stony) and see how it performs.
