A Mono-Red (with green splash) aggressive tron deck. Like the mono-green tron variant, this deck aims to slam tron together as early as turn 3 and start playing big creatures. The main reasoning for playing Red is
Combustible Gearhulk
and Banefire + Pyromancer's Goggles
to burn out your opponent. Now that we are acquainted, allow me to say...This IS MONO RED. A green splash changes nothing.
Main Gameplay:
The main gameplay is simple. Assemble tron on turn 3. Turn 3 tron allows this deck in particular to cast:
Karn Liberated
,
Pyromancer's Goggles
,
Karn, the Great Creator
,
Wurmcoil Engine
, and
Walking Ballista
among other combinations of cards. This deck uses
Expedition Map
to search tron lands or any other lands needed, and uses
Chromatic Star
, and
Chromatic Sphere
to filter mana for your red and green drops.
Light Up the Stage
is added for its great consistency and power boost. While
Ugin, the Spirit Dragon
and
Oblivion Stone
are answers to the boards that fast decks can put in front of you.
Karn, the Great Creator
can search for a plethora of artifacts from your sideboard to provide you answers in difficult times.
Win Cons: the foremost win conditions for the deck are
Combustible Gearhulk
and
Banefire
. Gearhulk makes the opponent choose between giving you card advantage or gambling with their life, and when at any point the burn from hulk can kill them, it can be a hard choice to make, and can sometimes win games alone.
Banefire
cannot be countered nor negated while its X is 5 or more. Meaning that a X of 10 using
Pyromancer's Goggles
to double it, means 20 damage, and can actually be accomplished turns 4-5. of course like most tron decks,
Karn Liberated
is a powerhouse that can remove immediate threats, destroy your opponent's hand, or can reset the game entirely while also giving you a head start.
Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
is a searchable threat that can exile 2 permanents and devastate a unprepared field.
Green Splash: The green splash is added for
Ancient Stirrings
and
Nature's Claim
. While this is not necessary at all to the deck's functionality, it helps a lot with consistency.
