@dolequbo I think you're thinking of Rings of Brighthearth, which is already in the deck. Planeswalkers have activated abilities, I will give you that Strionic Resonator will work off of some of the Emblems and it will allow me to make an extra token with Najeela.

Hey, I just thought I'd let you know that I'm really tired of seeing your deck in the feature queue and that bragging about your deck is one of the most retarded things a Magic player can do!

Forward this to that 'Flex' asshole; I'm sure you're buddies.

@NoOneOfConsequence I almost forgot to buy more tokens, thanks for the reminder!

Hunting Wilds is strictly better than Ranger's Path . It is very affordable too.

Wow I love this deck and the general idea behind it. You have a great combat strat and walker strat plus it synergizes since tokens can chump block for your walkers. Awesome deck bro. Definitely a +1 from me. I'd recommend more card draw. That's about it though.

Maybe I'm missing the combo, but, wouldn't you want the mana from Ramos, Dragon Engine ?

March 6, 2019 12:42 p.m.

Jbubbarb says... #7

The Mana from Ramos does help, but Najeela is just better.

The only two pros of Ramos is that he can produce a lot or Mana on one turn and that he's a flyer.

Other than that I can't count how many games I've had with him out and nothing in my hand. Because I've played all of my spells with his Mana, and then I either win or my threats get dealt with.

Having Najeela as a mana sink in those late game scenarios is great.

If you're asking why I don't have Ramos in the deck, it's because his Mana empties between additional combat phases and the untapping of the creatures happens before those additional combats. So I could activate Najeela twice, get two additional combat phases, but only be able to swing with everything once.

Also Derevi would be strictly better than Ramos if I wanted to put in a combat phase 'I Win' button.

I'd suggest putting in a few of the Najeela combo cards like: Derevi, Feast and Famine and Nature's Will.

Not only does it allow Najeela to be an alternate wincon but the extra mana is always useful.

I do plan on putting in sword of feast and famine and Derevi in eventually.

+1 Love this deck!

I have an Atraxa Superfriends deck that I've been toying with for the last two years and it is always fun.

Have you thought about running Constant Mists ? I know that the buyback cost can hurt with having to sacrifice a land, however with the ramp that you have and 38 lands, I think you would be just fine. It has saved my life many times and once your OP's know its in your hand and you have the mana to keep paying for it, many times they will direct their attack elsewhere.

Another card I would look into is Prismatic Omen . Really good for 5 color decks and hoses the Blood Moon that can wreck a land base like this!!

I have considered constant mists and Prismatic Omens was in here when it originally became five color superfriends.

Just wanna mention something about your comment earlier that said "I can't count the times a played everything in my hand and either won or my stuff was answered."

More card draw would solve this and just make the deck more consistent in general. With 5 colors, you should have at least 10 forms of card draw and answers for everything. (Counter spells, Swords to Plow Shares, Oblivion Ring, Return to Dust, heroic intervention, rootborn defenses, join shields, comeuppance, detention sphere, and anything that can blink your Planeswalker at instant speed to prevent it from taking damage.)

I say all that not to dis your deck. As I said before, I love the deck and the idea behind it. BUT as of right now, you have only about 4 forms of protection/answers and no card draw whatsoever.

I agree, but I like to keep my decks on theme super heavily, so I'm using my Planeswalkers as the draw/removal spells. Actually having draw spells like Tezzeret's Gambit used to be in the deck, but they've been cut.

I agree that it's a bad idea, but hey I just like activating Planeswalkers too much.

Been working on my own Najeela deck except with it just being warrior tribal. I think it’s up to snuff, but I want to make more changes to it. Najeela and the war bound

You got enough tutors.. Scapeshift with Evolution Sage is a massive combo that can help you ultimate any walker, or even mana fix if it's needed

I've been considering scapeshift just to fetch Phyrexian tower for arena rector, but your example is also gravy.

Play 38 lands it works better

Jbubbarb says... #21

It was originally forty, and then 38. I've gone down to 36 to help play test a lot of the new cards from WAR. I'll be adding in the rest of the fetch lands later this year and plan on getting my land count back up.

I run a superfriends deck myself so I wanna throw out some comments/complaints/praise and see what comes back to me that i can use for advice.

  1. I ADORE your use of Najeela, the Blade-Blossom as the commander, that's freaking brilliant! I was tempted to do the same but did not think she would pay off but you have made some good points for doing it.

  2. What one planeswalker wins you the game? What one above all else do you want? If there is no definitive answer why are you running Arena Rector ?

  3. Is the point of all the the mana rocks and ramp to use Najeela's ult more? I get by without any of that. Is the point a more "competitive environment" so you need to speed things up? (I do understand Evolution Sage and ramp, dont like it, but understand it)

  4. why are you not running Gilder Bairn ? I know deepglow skate is tempting because it does everything, but it does it once... on a big body... with no recursion. Maybe you can teach me why the fish is worth ANYTHING.

  5. I dont agree with a LOT of your walkers however, we are currently using different commanders/deck ideas so I understand why a few may be better for you over others.

  6. I ran Moment's Peace for a while myself but always fell out of favor with it as I'd rather have other, stronger, more reusable options which are far and few between so I just ditched it!

  7. HOW DARE YOU RUN ROWAN WIHTOUT WILL! Such a waste!

Personally, I never liked Atraxa as a super friends commander, since I usually win off of the red walkers anyway! I love how the spite of Najeela being naturally red, spits in the face of Atraxa. My commander has always been irrelevant, never cast it once, so I wont argue Ramos over Najeela over Reaper King over Sliver Queen over "pick-your-poison".

  1. Thanks!

  2. It depends on the game state really. If someone is going all in on tutors or card draw, then it'd have to be narset or ashiok for those. Otherwise I usually like seeing Garruk because he ramps me & I can -3 him while I have out 12 tokens & everyone realizes they've forgot that they've got a ton of damage coming their way that they should have accounted for. If I have doubling season/deepglow skate in hand it is 100% always Samut.

Arena Rector has been recently added to shut off combo decks. An example would be that one of my opponents cast a demonic tutor, I use phyrexian tower/alter to sac arena rector to go find ashiok. I've previously been on the fence about him, but with the addition of the new Teferi, Ashiok, & Narset I've got a feeling he'll be a vital part of the deck now.

  1. My play group has always said there's been one thing I've been known for at our LGS. That would be ramp, which I believe is the most vital part of deck building. The weakest ramp spell in the deck is Farseek, but it's excellent for color fixing. The rest of the ramp puts me pretty far ahead mana wise, Thran Dynamo & Gilded lotus both tap for three which work great w/ Tezzeret & Teferi, Temporal Archmange.

  2. Aminatou.

Let's say I ultimate Samut w/ deepglow skate instead of Doubling Season. I get Tamiyo, Field Researcher/Nicol Bolas, God-Pharoah & Aminatou. Use Aminatou to blink Deepglow Skate & then either go crazy w/ an omniscience emblem if I'm ahead or exile all of my opponents non-land permanents if I'm behind. Gilder Bairn is a great card, but it can be a lot harder to set up than Deepglow Skate, costs more mana overall & only hits one planeswalker instead of any number.

  1. There are a lot of different walkers, & I totally understand why you would feel that way. For example, Dovin, Grand Arbiter & Garruk Wildspeaker both seem very 'meh'. However pair them with Najeela & they're both insane. People often don't worry about Garruk because all I usually do once he comes down is ramp a little. Once I get 10+ tokens down his -3 ability can straight up kill a person/table. Dovin's plus one usually means that he's going to have a stupid amount of loyalty, so much so that my opponents won't even swing into him because it'd be pointless. Which also means that I'm looking at my top 10 and picking the best 3 on my next turn, which can lead me to a win easily.

  2. Moment's Peace having flashback is a big deal. I can't tell you how many times people have just swung into my planeswalkers & either forgot or didn't realize that MP had flashback. Which means that my planeswalkers are safe for one more turn & that Najeela has more wiggle room since all of their creatures they swung with are most likely tapped & her warriors will have an easier time getting through.

  3. Will will most likely go back in shortly. WAR has me playtesting a lot of cards at the same time & after a month or two I'll have him back in.

I also agree w/ you about red walkers & Atraxa, her proliferating at END STEP is a big minus in my book.

May 3, 2019 2:53 p.m.
  1. Complete
  2. I suppose if you're gunning for a combo block and not a win it makes a little more sense. I never liked rector because she had to exile herself and with no way to recur that i just never saw the point of a one use tutor. My group doesnt have too many combo decks that can get stopped by one walker... until WAR actually... new karn stops artifacts... maybe I need to reconsider.
  3. I get it, ramp is important. My super friends deck is probably the least ramp-y deck I have, weirdly enough. I get "use chromatic lantern" as a suggestion all the time but I just never saw the point of it. actual ramp spells are different. Maybe its just my playgroup but artifacts are just too risky for me, so easy to pop or steal or get abused.
  4. I'll argue that point all day. Yes, deepglow skate hits everyone but its a bigger immediate investment up front, it also paints a much bigger target on your head. too often did I spend my turn trying to use the skate only to have it countered because its as a spell versus bairn as an ability.
  5. I run Garruk Wildspeaker WITHOUT tokens, he's just awesome fixing and he makes tokens easily and (in my deck) isnt seen as a threat so he just keeps working. For you his ult actually does something very relevant so I get him. I always had trouble running a walker for one specific purpose. My deck list got very tight so i had to be wary and wound up playing a much more solitare like game which is probably why our lists are as different as they are.
  6. Maybe that's the difference: My playgroup NEVER forgot about moments peace. I cast it once and it always got prepared for/exiled/shuffled back so they could be rid of it. the single surprise of it was only what I was able to use so the flashback almost always failed for me so that's probably a bias on my end.
  7. I know his emblem isnt as good as Rowans but his -2 means you can dump a hand really quick, and the fact that he searches for Rowan has been a big plus for me.

I've always loved atraxa IN the deck. you play very offensively so I understand that end step counter hurting you, or boring you. For me it was a buffer. I play incredibly defensively and that extra one (or two) counter she placed made everyone that little bit bigger to soak a hit if I needed them to. If they kept it, sweet! I can use it next turn (or whenever cause teferi is dumb).
