Narset, Enlightened Master

Theme: Control

Sub-theme: Infinite turns loop

Introduction

Narset, the card relates to me because it was always drawn by my favorite illustrator, that is Magali, and I wanted to make a commander using all cards that she appears, so there goes this deck.

Playing with Narset, for me, is similar to playing Jodah when he was released, it cheats a bunch of dumb big spells and can win the game. This deck can be built in a lot of different ways, my favorite is infinite loops with a lot of card advantage cards like Aminatou's Augury.

I will explain better on the Game plan topic how we play, but on summary we just rush to cast Narset and attack to grab any Extra turn or Extra combat phase, and loop that up

Win conditions

Combos: Enter the Infinite + Nexus of Fate + Omniscience , Beacon of Tomorrows + Enter the Infinite + Omniscience , Approach of the Second Sun + Enter the Infinite + Omniscience

Cast Omniscience, then, with Enter the Infinite, draw your entire deck, put any card on the deck. You can cast all your ramp, then all the Extra turns Effects, but we will cast Nexus of Fate/Beacon of Tomorrows, after that we will shuffle the deck and cast Approach of the Second Sun, Approach of the Second Sun will go down on the deck, pass the turn to yourself, if you draw one of the Extra turn, use it again until you draw Approach again and cast it a second time to win the game.

Game plan

Let's start explaining some of my choices.

I really like to have more counterspells than most of the lists, I know that they are dead on Narset's triggers, but I play on a meta that have a lot of degenerate combos, and have a lot of control sources, I usually like to win the counter war. And I like to have at least one Global removal and at least three spot removals for creatures I couldn't counter.

With that cleared out, let's begin wit how we play. This deck is strong and consistent on it's plan, but it is very difficult to master the decisions we need to make with our spells.

On the early game, we play as most of competitive EDH decks play, we play a lot of artifacts, and ramp a lot, on a good day we can even play Narset on turn 2, if we are luck enough, we can even give haste to her and start attacking.

When we are attacking, we usually want to search for Extra turns and Extra combat effects as it we give us another chance to trigger, but our wincon comes in form of Enter the Infinite + Omniscience . When we assemble these, well, we win, you can cast all your spells and cast Approach of the Second Sun, cast a draw card and get Approach again to win, or if Approach is out of the deck, we just loop Nexus of Fate and Beacon of Tomorrows and just attack to win.

We have some support cards, like Armageddon, and Cursed Totem, that help us to stop some decks. And cards that helps our gameplan, Search for Azcanta  , Sensei's Divining Top, Soothsaying, and the cards that cheat spells or manipulate the top of our deck.

Cards discussion

Cards:

Lightning Greaves / Swiftfoot Boots / Need for Speed

Those cards are great, and I doesn't have much to say about them.

Bloodlust Inciter / Goblin Motivator /Torch Courier

Althouth they are a miss card when revealed by Narset, they do great in this deck, the problem with them is the need to wait a turn to use them.

Generator Servant

It have the same problem from the above cards, but it is ramp and haste enabler, so It is a must have.

Mass Hysteria

Be careful when play this. It helps the enemies dorks.

These cards have the same rule, they can help you play Narset earlier.

Hope you all like this deck, if you can help me out, your help will be very welcome.
