Have you considered Treasure Cruise instead of Jace's Ingenuity ? It might mess with Jace's ultimate a bit, but I think Treasure Cruise is better when you draw it instead of casting it for free with Narset.

I haven't consid red Treasure Cruise , but I have considered Dig Through Time .

Yeah, Dig Through Time beats both of them if you can get them cheap enough. Thats an even better option

Have you considered maybe putting in Fated Conflagration ? With how big the average card in midrange decks is and that if Narset casts it, it is effectively a free scry (and works well with draws), it may be an interesting card to consider as well

DTBlade someone else brought Fated Conflagration up to me at draft today. Its seems spicy and a great Siege Rhino removal card. I have 2 questions though. The first being that would you put it in the sideboard and replace it for Stoke the Flames , or would you put it main board? If main then what would you replace it with? Lightning Strike is great spot removal and helps keep Narset alive when attacking creatures stronger than her, plus the first few turns are usually used to set up the Narset package. The only reason I question Fated Conflagration is the triple red cost. Granted, I could always add more Shivan Reef and Battlefield Forge .

I am currently thinking about where to put Fated Conflagration but first let me address your mana concerns. While it is probably unlikely you will have the perfect mana set up for turn 4, 17 of your 25 lands do produce red mana. I think this should be enough to be able to get it off on turn 5-6 easily ( I could be wrong though). From what I could see from testing the deck on here (I am actually going to be building a deck similar to this soon), you don't get to use the convoke mechanic much for Stoke the Flames so that may be a good substitute since its the same CMC for more damage at that point

Hmm, okay. I'll start testing it on untap.in

Thanks man, I've been wanting to post board Aggro too, I think it could be a total blowout. Let me know how it goes for you.

FNM 18 Oct 2014 :

2/5 Wins No Jace and only 1 Ajani so I MB'd Two deflecting Charms for some idiotic reason

Match 1: 0-2BW Control

Game 1: He got Liliana Vess out before I had an answer and it was a tight game. Had him to 3 life and was top decking a Lightning Strike when he dropped Resolute Archangel and with no cards in hand it was GG

Game 2: Mana screwed sitting an a Plains and and Island for draw-go until death after two mulligans. GG

Match 2: 2-0BG Constellation

Both games a walk over for me. Answers to basically everything and mainly burned him down.

Match 3: 0-2Jeskai Burn

First game I admit I was out of my depth dealing with the small amounts of damage that added up coupled with Prowess on the Monastery Swiftspear . I need more experience with Tempo/Burn "mirrors" and to think about my reactions.

Second game dropped two Circle of Flames which basically held him off to a 4 vs 6 life situation, and once again I made a mistake and Dissolve d a Magma Jet then dropped Sarkhan but he drew Stoke the Flames and it was GG again. Stubborn Denial also surprised me with the Ferocious benefit.

Match 4: 0-2

Temur Creatures. Didn't draw many answers both games and Stubborn Denial took care of Elspeth second game to give him an easy win.

Match 5: 2-1

BW Aggro. Easily the most fun match of the game. She smashed my face in the first game as Utter End waved off my Sarkhan with no Dissolve in hand. Sideboarded End Hostilities , Circle of Flame , 2x Banishing Light , Anger of the Gods and then both games managed to drop Sarkhan, Elspeth and Ajani either hardcast or through Narset and lifelinked sarkhan and pumped up warriors did the deed both games.

The Ajani meat in the Sarkhan/Elspeth sandwich is what made this deck fun to play. I kinda feel like Keranos made little impact and could maybe be dropped for something with more impact and the Dissolves might be better dropped to SB for my meta.

Overall I had a really fun night for my first constructed tourney in over 15 years. Manage to trade for my second Ajani. I'm glad I didn't drop the build for Jeskai Wins or try to play Pornithopter first time out. Definitely going to stick with it. Just wish I wasn't working today, as I'm missing game day but thems the breaks!!

I have to say, I've been trying to get Jeskai control to work and this deck looks awesome! Turn four narset into flipping any planeswalker is absolutely incredible. I think I'm going to look try building this for myself.

Good work, well done.

I have a deck similar to this except I use Narset to spit tokens and Planeswalkers out more than anything. I also use Ethereal Usher to transmute for Narset.

Thoughts on Disdainful Stroke main over Dissolve . In most cases I'd always choose dissolve but Disdainful Stroke is just so good against ramp decks and with my tapped lands it can sometimes be painful letting a Siege Rhino stick because of it. Other than Brimaz, King of Oreskos , I'm able to burn anything turn 2-3 but the Disdainful Stroke seems like it could be more useful than Dissolve . I'm looking for some feedback and I'll probably start play testing with -2 Dissolve for +2 Disdainful Stroke .

I've dropped Dissolve for Disdainful Stroke and will test this friday. I'm also mainboarding more boardwipe. I wasn't suriving my local meta with all the aggro just using burn.

erase is probably better than deicide due to being amana less the god clause is not super relevant anymore

Angus300 says... #16

I agree but there are a couple decks in my meta running gods. And the extra mana doesn't really make too much of a difference.

I tried this deck out (with some of my own touches, of course), and it is an absolute beast. It beat my undefeated R/W/U token deck, my nemesis' Abzan Midrange, and my friend's insane Mardu Combo deck. This deck is brutal in its own unique way.

I ran into the same problem against Sagu Mauler. Anger of the Gods + Polymorphist's Jest (or any other removal / wipe spell) fixed that, however. Awesome deck, man.

November 5, 2014 8:23 a.m.

Angus300 says... #18

Thanks man! I really appreciate your compliment. When this deck was first in production I play tested the Anger of the Gods+Polymorphist's Jest combo and it worked well when it happened but was dead if Narset, Enlightened Master was on the field. I even tried Scouring Sands in replace of Anger of the Gods and yet it just still was too situational for me. I clearly decided 1 for 1 with burn was my preferred option. Now back to the Sagu Mauler, it turns out he hasn't been much of in issue for me, at all actually. Either he's a morph so he can spring up turn 5 but likely he falls to burn, or they hard cast him turn 6 and by turn 6+ I should already be dominating because this deck is all about winning the late game. Besides, my sideboard options favor me over temur in most cases.

November 5, 2014 4:45 p.m.

Annro says... #19

Yeah, I sideboard Polymorphist's Jest mainly because, at least in my community, Sagu Mauler and Fleecemane Lion are increasingly popular. Fleecemane being the most annoying of the two... Also, it's a great way to bring a horde of late-game fatties down to Anger of the Gods or Scouring Sands range, or, if you're desperate, to take out that single hexproof/indestructible creature that is just waiting to block and kill your Narset...

Aside from those hard-to-kill creatures (which are typically Temur or Abzan), I've had awesome results. I just did another round of playtests today and the deck remains undefeated. I'm thinking about taking it to FNM next week, I'll definitely let you know how it goes :D

when you play againsts midrange do you hold narset back until after you end hostilities or do you just dig for another?

December 2, 2014 11:30 a.m.

Angus300 says... #22

When playing against midrange I usually take out all 4 generator servants so Im usually waiting to play Narset as it is. If Narset is already in play and she flips an end hostilities or if I have one in hand then I have no problem wiping the board because my deck is strong enough to recover. But I usually only wipe the board if I'm behind or if narset can't handle it herself.

good job, i like this a lot. its different from the rest of the cookie cutter decks, but it looks like it can compete with them. i know what you mean about the feeling when you beat the tier 1 decks with a homebrew, its the best. unfortunately im not having luck with my brews lately, i might have to borrow this one :)

I just got back into MTG about 6 weeks ago...had pulled a Keranos out of a pack and built kind of a UR control...morphed that into a deck trying to control and scry Riddle of Lightning into a Treasure Cruise or Dig for 8 dmg drops.

Wasn't happy really with either of the above, found this deck after a lot of looking around and trying things on my own, since I had also pulled a Narset and thought it would be fun to play around with.

Anyway, I transitioned into this deck since I liked the premise and wanted to utilize Narset - have taken the deck out two weeks now (with a slightly more budget land set) and went 1-2 the first time while I was still getting a feel for it competitively, and last night went 4-0 at FNM, lost tiebreaker and got 2nd. And yes the promo stoke really does look good :)

Anyone thinking about jumping into this deck should give it a shot.
