Deck looks great! In many ways, it's what my Nath deck aspires to be! +1

Also, Possessed Portal, Painful Quandary, and Pox are All-Stars!

Looks good, +1. By the way have you considered Zendikar Resurgent for this?

Geier Reach Sanitarium + Waste Not is very clever. Good stuff.

I like your deck (and +1 it) because its much more attainable than "he who smells like rich mahogany." I've been putting together a similar deck with Nath and was wondering if you or any other commenters here could give me any pointers I would greatly appreciate it. The deck is A Horde of Whatevers

Strionic Resonator can be fun to enhance your already scary triggered effects.

Lemme highlight a few cards from Aether Revolt :)

Herald of Anguish seems good, especially since you're playing a decent number of artifacts. Heroic Intervention seems generally good, doubly so if you plan to wipe the board. Unbridled Growth might be handy here, or in your other decks, as a quick color-fixer that cantrips.

Happy deckbuilding! :)

Madaraximundar: I have the impression YOU didn't read the deck, lol.

This is PartyJ's Nath discard EDH, not your WU Eldrazi one (on which I am still composing my comment).

I actually posted this comment with the wrong deck AND the wrong user. Tab-fill for usernames is failing. Meant for DaedricNeusance on my deck I thought I was on.

Edit: Typos galore.

Thought it was him suggesting cards on my deck. Carry on.

Hello, and thanks for calling me an expert! I'll answer your questions again in turn.

1: I do just think you are unlucky, I counted the ramp spells and it has the exact same count as mine, though I do have Cradle as well which might as well count as an extra one. Part of this is I think is Massacre Wurm, Wirewood Symbiote, and to a lesser extent, Priest of Titania are just too win more. You want 95% of your ramp on t1 and none of these actively help you get there. Earthcraft will help fill the Titania slot, while being a lot harder to interact with and not being hit by Cursed Totem. I only mention Wurm here because I think it is way to fat for the deck. With the Damnation inbound I would try to snag one of those in a month or so when they hit rock bottom to replace Wurm.

2: I think you are running the wrong kind if stax in some places, which makes it rather hard to land after Nath. Both Smokestack and Lodestone Golem are both too slow and way too easy to interact with. So I personally would replace them with a much needed "Oops I win" button in Squirrel Nest and Earthcraft. Both halves benefit you in various ways while the combo just wins games.

Also, missing Dark Confidant hurts a lot because it adds that extra way to earn card advantage which the deck really needs. I'm not sure what other persistent card advantage G/B has, but an effect like this is really needed to keep your hand full.

Hope this helps, and if you have any questions please ask! I'll be glad to help. Also, if you want quicker feedback, come talk in our Discord channel since I am almost always there most hours of the day. Discord allows for real time chat and we talk about just about every facet in MTG there including basically every format ever and off topic stuff too. Hope to see you there!

Again, hope this helps!

Hi Coinman1863,

according to your thoughful comment I made a few changes. Mainly I followed your advise and changed some:

I took out: Massacre Wurm, Priest of Titania, Lodestone Golem and Dark Petition

I added: Damnation, Earthcraft, Squirrel Nest and Dark Confidant

Wirewood Symbiote protects my Commander and is not here for any ramp activities. It supported me in my meta alot. Same counts for Smokestack. I think I am just too much of a fan of this card. Especially since my meta just hates it ;)

Hopefully I get better opening hands next weekend :)

No Cabal Coffers? It has very good synergy with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.

Sorry for the late response but here it is.

I found Defense Grid to be bad. Simply because it enables your opponents to do way too much. Sure it stops them from messing with you but it does the same for everyone else.

Torpor Orb on the other hand, wew. Orb I found to be a few good card. With Hulk becoming more prevalent and the oodles of ETBs it stops, like Reclamation Sage, I feel it is worth the slot.

Hope this helps!

This deck looks stable. Your primer is on point too man. :D I'll be looking through a lot more in the following minutes, but I'm curious to know how Dark Confidant and Dark Tutelage work for your deck. I found them to be too distracting in my deck as to hurt me more then help. You've seen my Nath Stax already, so i just wanna know your thoughts on the card. Make sure to let me know man. Thanks!

Hey Shadowz6677, thanks for the comment. I have been out of the country for quite some time and was unable to keep track of this site in a decent way.

I have been looking at your deck too and I must say that it looks very interesting. We both strive for the same goal, but using a slightly different approach to get there. So I enjoy looking at your choices in the future to improve my choices. I would really enjoy getting my hands on a The Abyss, but it is so expensive :s

i saw you chose to add Dark Tutelage, which is a great card. It bypasses stax effect that denies us carddraw, something that I prefer to be doing alot ;-)

I have been struggling with Mana Web in the past. Is it really that good to add it? i had mixed results, since it needs the tomb to make it really work. Alone its pretty much a dead card in my meta filled with multicolored decks.

How often did you use Sadistic Sacrament with the kicker? Isn't the cmc (with the kicker) too high to justify a spot in your deck?

Is the artifact hate abundant in your meta to play Glissa, the Traitor?

Best Stax,

PJ

Mana Web does some work man. You don't even really need Tomb. Most of the time, you cast Mana Web, hold priority, and cast Crop Rotation if Tomb is that needed. Mana Web isn't a dead card at my meta where it forces people to think about there plays.

Sadistic Sacrament I don't normally get it kicked. But when you drop it for just and remove combos, this card SINGLE HANDEDLY won me a tournament in games 2 and 3 of my final match up. It was super sick.

Artifact hate is a big thing in my meta right now. So Glissa sits as both a body and a readily available way to recur my hate pieces. People tend to let her slide and just get beat in the face for 3 every so often or not swing at me and let me do what i want so i dont get hate pieces back.

Essentially, Glissa is a political card in the deck, when everyone wants to remove you from the game, but doesn't want to give you a card back to do it.

Best of luck in Stax!

To raise the odds of finding cards like Chains of Mephistopheles. The odds that you have chains out sooner are slimmer than one of the other cards you mention. And if Chains does not show up, it's a great way to refill your hand. My opponent will always suffer more from chains than I ever will... under the impression that your Commander is out.

Let's assume you have Sylvan out... getting a free ponder every turn for just 1G is a good investment to swoop though the deck. Life is just a resource.

My past 20 games gave me a great deal of extra cards in the early game, while sadly I hardly saw the chains pop up. So far so good...

And with Geier in play and Chains it's discard heaven. It means at best 2 discard per opponent. Yes, I have to discard too, but I aim to get my locks setup by then and starting chipping away lives with many many tokens that ETB.
