I'm thinking about Taking out Primal Hunter and putting in a Mountain just to get more consistent mana draws. I could definitely use a better sideboard.

Would Ghor-Clan Rampager be good to put in the deck instead of flinthoof?

There really isn't any reason to not be running Rest in Peace in the sideboard to fight reanimator, against control you might want a couple of Blasphemous Act s in the sideboard

agreed with Demarge. Blasphemous Act also can win you the game if you have reckoner on the board...Rest in Peace and Tormod's Crypt in sideboard for renanimator. I like Naturalize better than Ray of Revelation because it can stop Witchbane Orb and Blind Obedience . Gruul Charm is heavily overlooked, but it can help clear the skies, or let your guys swing freely for the kill. Thundermaw Hellkite is a powerhouse, but have you looked into using Aurelia, the Warleader ? maybe 1 less hellkite, and +1 aurelia?

Hey I know Tormod's Crypt and Rest in Peace are the staple graveyard hate but if junk rites sees either on the field then they know not to play into it. The matches I've seen have always been close until junk rites hard casts Angel of Serenity then Craterhoof Behemoth which usually means game. I want junk rites to play their usual game and get their fatties out of their hands and play into my instant speed Purify the Grave . I haven't play tested this yet so maybe I'm being too optimistic?

instant speed does help with Purify the Grave but it is targeting just 1 card...what if they have a Thragtusk , and an Unburial rites sitting in the yard or add an Angel of Serenity to that mix in the yard...which will you pick? instant speed is nice, and so is the flashback, but wouldn't you rather be mid game (around turn 4-5, when they really start doing something) and then flat out bomb their yard? only thing that can stop tormod's crypt from doing its thing is a Naturalize in my opinion. they can definitely play around it, but bogging a yard mid game gets them on the defensive (reshuffling their strat atleast for a turn or two) and lets you create board position. to each their own as always, but I think targeting an entire yard is better than one card in the yard.

And yes I've thought about Aurelia, the Warleader due to her being an amazing win con but she does cost 6 so I felt like I needed a more aggressive approach for control and to take advantage of junk rites sluggish start. I also side in Selesnya Charm to exile serenity and craterhoof but it isn't the best course of action when they have 4 creatures each 9/9s. Why is junk so damn good right now :(

Khanye says... #8

add Aurelia, the Warleader , the 1 extra mana over the hellkite isn't that big of a deal for your deck. this will allow you to Rest in Peace while making their Skullcrack

...see what I did there...

Yeah you're definitely right about that, I haven't thought about waiting a second to drop it to let them Mulch and Grisly Salvage a bit before I drop Rest in Peace . With Purify the Grave can't I just wait until they target something to reanimate then I exile it in response? It would be a wasted Unburial Rites and if they flash it back I still have my flashback. I agree with you that RIP is the best card for graveyard hate but junk rites expects it now and I haven't seen anyone try to trip them up with purify the grave yet. Also, Garruk Relentless  Flip -3 gives my creatures +X for how many creatures are in my graveyard. I've actually considered adding Terminus to clear the field after they have mana to cast serenity to make Craterhoof Behemoth less effective.

Hahaha I would +1 your comment if I could. I considered splashing black just to deal with this freaking deck. I have nightmares about it. I'll flip tables next time craterhoof causes them to swing for 55.

April 18, 2013 4:14 p.m.

Khanye says... #11

since you run mini garruk. Tormod's Crypt is your card of choice. Although, mini garruk's ultimate is more cosmetic in your deck than anything, your guys will still gain trample regardless and get some pump if you have something in the yard. Having nothing in the yard still nets your guys trample, the +x/+x is just the cherry on top.

AteTheIsm says... #12

It's really just a nice finisher, I agree, it doesn't go off usually because I'm so willing to sac him to keep my creatures. And about Aurelia, I think she fits perfectly in the deck but to be honest my friend runs 2 and he already thinks I copied his Naya deck so I can't add anymore of "his" cards or he will incessantly bitch about it. I would love to run her though, -3 baby garruk and dropping aurelia sounds really, really good.

Khanye says... #13

trample + 2 attack phases? Yes please...funny thing is, I am debating about running either Garruk in my list...I got blasted by delver aggro, and the original Naya Blitz last week, but Junk rites caved easily to me. Here is my list if you care to look and offer suggestions:

also, with the Avacyn's Pilgrim and the Farseek , do you really need 24 land? is it possible to squeeze out 2 more spells instead of the lands?

April 18, 2013 5:02 p.m.

AteTheIsm says... #15

It's so funny because I had 22 lands and it ran so smoothe but I was worried about missing my drops so I took out a Boros Reckoner and a Loxodon Smiter . Maybe I should rework the ratios a bit. I really want to do the best with this deck at FNM tomorrow. So, something came to me at work today, how well would Aurelia's Fury run in the deck? I was thinking specifically against craterhoof when they are about to go for the kill I cast it to tap them all which leaves him open for a counterattack.

Or would Fog be more efficient?

April 19, 2013 12:24 a.m.

Khanye says... #17

Fog only cost 1 mana, saves you for a turn. You laugh, drop Aurelia next turn, swing for the win. Take out 2 lands, put the war leader in is my suggestion.

Damn, I like your style

it works on paper, but never on the board for me...still having nightmares about being outraced by simic...it was horrible....

April 19, 2013 3:45 p.m.

AteTheIsm says... #20

I really want Aurelia in this deck but my friends already running her and I don't want him bitching. The only differences in our naya deck is that I run hellrider and he runs huntmaster. He also runs 2 or 3 bonfires.

AteTheIsm says... #22

Alright everyone, I'm hoping to test this deck soon and see how it runs. I like The main deck though I won't know for sure until playtesting. Am I missing some vital sideboard cards? I have no way of removing hexproof creatures so I brought in glaring spotlight for hate. I considered Skullcrack in main board. Also, instead of Rancor , what about Pit Fight ?

April 22, 2013 4:03 p.m.

Khanye says... #23

you are running Boros Reckoner , might as well run at least 1 Blasphemous Act . that will handle your Sigarda problem, while potentially getting a 2 for 1 on reckoner. The spotlight is ok, but I think its too defensive to do much work. Harvest Pyre could be a game winner on it own, if you have a Boros Reckoner on the board, and have enough in the yard to just dump.

April 22, 2013 4:25 p.m.

AteTheIsm says... #24

Ahh blasphemous act is a great idea in this deck, I felt like I ran too many creatures before and I didn't want to give up board control but domri will give me the potential extra draw after a blasphemous act. Probably main deck them in place of the selesnya charms. I'd love to pull a blaspheme and boros charm combo.

April 22, 2013 4:45 p.m.

AteTheIsm says... #25

Wow harvest pyre is great midgame, especially after the blasphemous act reckoner combo. Great suggestion. Of course it can also deal heavy damage against control after they try to sphinx
