This is my Naya deck that has had quite the evolution. I started out with just a simple Gruul aggro deck. It was fast as all h*ll, but lacked late game. I decided after a while to add in white for more combat options and creatures. There was significant improvement but It was still lacking when it came to late game. I soon realized that to compete with top tier decks, I would have to add in removal. My friend gave me some tips and helped me build my rough draft of the midranged deck that I now play.

tl;dr : Started with a Gruul aggro deck that lacked late game. Ended up with a Naya midranged.

MAIN BOARD:

Creatures

Loxodon Smiter: Reliable creature with awesome power and toughness for just being 1GW. Sets up for lots of damage potential and is also a great turn three wall. Swinging with a Smiter always feels more powerful than it actually is.

Boros Reckoner: Creates lots of problems for decks without lots of removal. Stops a lot of early game threats from aggro decks. Most people don't like blocking an attacking Reckoner either.

Sylvan Caryatid: More mana early game. Turn four Advents are always nice.

Advent of the Wurm: Though technically not a creature itself, it makes 5/5 with trample on turn four at instant speed, and because it's only green, it can be flashed in to block unsuspecting Blood Barons.

Removal:

Chained to the Rocks: One drop exile? Ill take it. This card deals with lots of threats. Heavily enchanted Fabled Heros, Desecration Demon, Master of the Waves and all his groupies and countless others.

Mizzium Mortars: Just a great card in general. Kills Blood Baron, and can wipe your opponents board late game.

Anger of the Gods: Destroys mono blue aggro's entire board state and shuts down most other aggro decks.. Also a good win con with Boros Reckoners out on my side.

Selesnya Charm: Versatile card. Removal, body and a buff all in one.

Other Mentions:

Assemble the Legion: Lots of blocker or overwhelming attackers late game.

Ajani, Caller of the Pride: Larger Creatures and two win cons, lots of kitties or a flying double striker for game.

Unflinching Courage: The life gain helps me last into late game against aggro, and the trample destroys their life total.

SIDE BOARD:

Boros Charm, Ghor-Clan Rampager and Fleecmane Lion are all in there to make the deck more aggro based if I go up against another midranged deck.

Celestial Charm is there to deal with hexproof creatures.

Mistcutter Hydra is of course for any decks with lots of blue creatures.

Pithing Needle is there for pesky planes walkers and AEtherlings.

Things I'm considering:

Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Stormbreath Dragon, Witchstalker.

I am always looking to improve this deck. See any fatal flaws? Please point them out to me, all help is massively appreciated!

Round One:

I was paired against a guy who was playing his friend's America Control deck. He was very new to magic and didn't really know how the deck worked. He was a nice guy, but it was an easy win. 2-0.

Round Two:

I played against a UW Heroic deck. Our games lasted a long time because we both had lots of life link, but my removal kept screwing other his enchanted creatures. Second game I side boarded +3 Mistcutter Hydra and -3 Advent of the Wurm. 2-0.

Round Three:

I played against my friend and his Golgari Midranged deck. Had to mulligan down to four both games and had bad draws. Regardless, he is a better player than me and deserved the wins. 0-2.

Round Four:

Mono Blue Aggro. This is always a tough match up for a lot of decks. Game one, he got tons of creatures out including Master of the Waves for eleven devotion. It wasn't anything that my Chained to the rocks and life link couldn't handle, but it was still tricky. Won the first game with Ajani's -3 onto an Advent with an Unflinching Courage attached to it. Game two I sided -3 Advent for +3 Mistcutter, and +2 Pithing needle for -2 Selesya Charm to deal with his Jaces. Won the second game with an Anger of the Gods onto my two Boros Reckoners after swinging in with two Mistcutters. He was an awesome guy and a ton of fun to play against. 2-0.

Round Five:

Prime Speaker BUG. Lost the first game due to his removal early game, and huge creatures late game. Won the second with Ajani's -8, making 14 kitties( was actually the second time he lost to Ajani's and his army that night believe it or not). Lost the third game because of his big creatures again. 1-2.
